Houston has won, what, 15 straight and Scola has been a big part, while Thornton is stuck on a mediocre injured squad. I see why they gave Scola the nod for the month, but Thornton better be on the All-Rookie squad

i understand that the teams been doing well too but all of the rookie awards have nothing to do with team record. the RoTY award is nothing like the MVP award where your team has to have a good record and neither are the selections for the rookie game during all star weekend. so i dont see why thornton didnt get it.

on nba.com they show scolas best statlines in february and they were ok for a rookie but nothing really when you compare it to thorntons 33 12 and 4. or his multiple double doubles where he almost got 20 and 10 on the road trip.

Scola is a big part of the Rockets success. I thought they picked which rookie is playing the best, not which rookie is the most valuable to his team. Scola has played very well, but Scola is also 27. I really thought that Thornton would get it. But since Houston was won 15 straight they gave it to Scola. Hopefully Thornton can earn it this month.

15 wins gives Scola that extra boost. I thought and hoped that Al Thornton would have a good shot at earning that honor for the month, but if you look at the list his name is first of the guys that just missed out. Maybe he'll kick it up a notch like he did after the rookie game. Since Al wasn't the Western ROM, I'm glad it was Scola.
