If the Clippers get the 1st Pick, what do we do?

The general consensus is that Beasley will be the overall 1st pick in the draft. Are we going to take him or shop him around? Do we take Rose?

I say trade the pick, for 2 reasons:

1. He's a PF and we already have one of the top in the league.
2. We need a lot of help, more than 1 rookie can give us.

So who do we trade it to? Here's an idea:

PHX Gets:
1st Pick overall
Cutino Mobley
Q Ross

Clippers Get:
Leandro Barbosa
Raja Bell
PHX's pick from ATL (approx #12)

Why for Phx:
The get beaf in Beasley, something they desperately need...and a potential Star. They have to give up 2 young guards, but they get a great shooter in Mobley. Ross is there for filler but they also tried to trade for him recently.

The bad for PHX is that they have to take on a bigger contract for Mobley and they lose a PG in Barbosa. They're already hurting on PGs as it is, but this deal gives them a major improvement in their front line. (Maybe we throw in Brevin Knight to help them out.)

Its a lot to give up for PHX but they get a potential star.

Why for the Clips:
We don't need a PF, Brand is the man. We need a major upgrade at PG and better shooting/defense all around. With the pick we take Stephen Curry (if he's still available).

This fills our need at PG and improves our shooting and defense. We pick up Diop in free agency and we are good to go.

PG: Livingston/Barbosa
SG: Bell/Curry
SF: Thornton/Thomas
PF: Brand/Diop/Powell
C: Kaman/Diop

currys staying in college for two more years and if he entered the draft this year he would be a late 1st rounder/early 2nd rounder. there is NO WAY he is a lottery pick.

if we get the first pick id say we should maybe keep it. maybe we should move thornton to the 2 and get him used to it and then have beasley at the 3. the only other thing i can think of is trading the rights to beasley for the rights to mayo and some fillers or something.

It all depends on the Maggete FA factor.

If Maggette decides to leave:

I say draft Beasley. Put him at SF, Thornton at SG, and pursue a PG in free agency. A Thornton, Beasley, Brand, and Kaman starting 4 to go along with a quality PG is not half bad.

We can also think about a sign and trade option with Corey, possibly for a player who can fit into the Clippers system (Richard Jefferson?).

If Maggette decides to stay:

a) Try to trade the pick to get a solidified starting PG/role player in the league.

Here's an idea...

Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry and the Grizzles pick for Cuttino Mobely and the #1 pick.

We could have a small chance to draft Derrick Rose at #3 (which is what the Grizzles pick is projected to be right now).

Another idea could be trying to get Devin Harris and picks #11 and #23 (projected) from New Jersey for a package involving the #1 pick.

b) Draft Rose. Simple.

It would be interesting to say the least...

I like the Devin Harris and 2 #1's idea. I don't see why NJ would do it though.

Yeah, I know the Nets would have to get rid of Richard Jefferson in order to be even a little interested in this trade. It was just an idea, which I know is probably not going to happen.
