"Maggette's future with Clippers is uncertain"

Concerns remain over how Maggette will fit into next year's Clippers team. If Brand returns, along with rapidly developing forward Al Thornton and center Chris Kaman -- they will all be looking for the basketball.
There's also his sometimes tenuous relationship with Dunleavy.
Dunleavy said that issues between them over Maggette's role on the team are in the past. Still, he would still like to see Maggette become a better defender.
"You look at [Corey's] body and you think that he could be a defensive stopper, and that's one of the things we would like him to continue working on," Dunleavy said.
Said Maggette: "At the end of the day, if I'm going to be here, it's because of the loyalty from the fans, the general manager and the owner. We'll see."

Our best possible use of Maggette is for Trade Bait to bring in a quality PG.

I thought it was funny who he did/did not mention for being reasons if he's here next season.
I think that after Mid-May when the lottery has taken place we'll have a more clear cut view of how to approach his situation. If we wind up with a top 2 then we draft Rose, we would be able to keep him and slide him down to the 2. If we end up with Mayo or Gordon then a S&T is best option for all parties.

We better get equal value if we trade Maggette via S&T.

How about for Ben Gordon straight up?

All I can say is, we better not let another free agent go for nothing. What I like about this situation is that Corey really does control his own destiny, so if he's here come next season, it's because he truly wants to be. No more of this "trade me or don't trade me" drama. I think we can get some good value for him if we pull a S&T, but I'd love to see him back.

I'd like to see him back if he could play the SG position(if he can manage to keep his jumpshot), but if he stays at the SF and takes up Al's time then I would like to trade him for someone who can fill a role we need. Either way I wish the best for him. I have much respect to him, Brand, and Piatkowski for resigning with the Clips in their careers. I don't remember many players who did resign with us(besides Kaman). >.>

It's not within our control. Corey could opt out and walk, and we get absolutely nothing.
A S&T might work out best for all involved parties, but we'll just have to see what trade partners are out there, what potential players we can bring in, etc.

That should be a good trade, but I think Magg is much better quality than Gordon

Raptor fans would hand over TJ Ford for Maggette on a silver platter (mind you, he doesn't do much for our defensive troubles)

S&T for Jason Terry is what I'll try to do if Dallas still has the offer on the table. Hell, I'd give them the Minny pick as well if we get a couple of 2nd rounders from them[08 and 09]. Terry brings in what we got with Sam Cassell, minus the smartness, by that, I mean a guard who isn't afraid to shoot and is damn clutch. With Knight/Livingston, the opposing Point Guard can help double on EB and Chris, but with Terry, they won't because dude will knock down the open J.

A S&T would be the most obvious way to get the most talent in exchange for him. I think he's had enough of losing in LA.
S&T Maggette and the 6th for S&T Gilbert and their pick (it's projected at 18 right now) could be a possible idea.
hmm

Wizards won't touch that. I think a package of Maggz+#6 pick for Baron Davis is feasible though.

are you kidding me? we can get gilbert for nothing. he already said hes opting out so we can just sign him and if we did a trade we would definitely not give up our lottery pick. why take a chance on arenas whos older than the lottery pick and has tons of knee problems and is a ballhog when we can have a young guy like mayo?

I would not trade Magg for Terry. I think Magg has more value than Terry. I think if somehow you guys can pull of a trade for agent 0 would be awesome. That would give you guys a playoff team.

The Clippers would have to do a sign and trade for Arenas, they can't get him for nothing since they are over the cap. The Clippers would have to give up a lot more than just a lottery pick for Arenas to matchup the salaries.
