Thanks for the info, your news on Sofo is always appreciated and in this case finally is exciting. I'm pretty certain there isn't a deadline where a team loses a player's rights who has yet to sign an NBA contract.

Yep. Knicks still have Frederic Weis' rights and he was drafted in '99.

If this guy is as solid as some ppl have reported, I wonder when will he come to play for the Clips. Also from the pic, he seem to have lost some weight, Looks to be around 245 to 255 lbs.

Sofocles Schortsianitis (206-C-85) is back in action. The powerful Greek center appeared last night in the court, this time with his uniform and ready to ramble. The game between Olympiakos and AEL 1964 was the 'kick off' game for the 'big Sofo'. The talented center scored his first 9 points in only 6 minutes, proving first of all that he wants to come back in action very soon. Big Sofo was much different in the court, with at least 30 kilos less, mood to run, passionate and above all ready to work hard in order to reach the best feasible level and become ready for the coming play-offs and of course if possible the games of the Hellenic NT for the pre-Olympic Tournament which will take place in Athens, Greece. Coach Panagiotis Yiannakis is definitely the most delighted person as he can add a 'weapon' in both of his teams, firstly at his club, Olympiakos and secondly and most important at his National team.

I wish, but 30 kilos/66 pounds or so is a great start. The only problem is if he actually was at 400lbs then that means he's around 330-340. The Clippers wanted him to get down to around 280 a few years back when he was around 320ish. I liked what I saw of him 2 years ago in the World Championships and wanted him to come over that summer. Unfortunately, he and his coach had a feud and then he ballooned up to who knows how much.

Even if he didn't come over here next season, that's really nice progress if he can actually get down that low.

160 kilos is 352.5 pounds, still way too heavy to be effective in the NBA.

Agreed. And he looked more defined (in that pic) than O'Neal does. I wonder if he ever does play in the NBA...

Greek Laker fan here. I think that last time he had issues and was thrown out of Olumpiacos, the Clippers announced they waived their rights for the next 3 years or sth like that. I will try to find the link.

This was the last update from his site. He's hoping to make the Greek team this summer.

Sofoklis is among the 19 players of the National pre-selection, according to the announcement made today by coach Panagiotis Yannakis, in view of the pre-olympic tournament that will take place in Athens in July. Sofoklis, that starts preparation camp in Karpenisi on June 23, will have with him Panagiotis Vassilopoulos, Giorgos Prindezis, Yannis Bouroussis and Ian Vougioukas from Olympiacos, while the rest players summoned are: Thodoros Papaloukas, Nikos Zisis (CSKA Moscow), Demetris Diamantides, Vassilis Spanoulis, Kostas Tsartsaris, Demos Dikoudes, Stratos Perperoglou (Panathinaikos), Mihalis Pelekanos (Real Madrid), Antonis Fotsis (Dynamo Moscow), Andreas Glyniadakes (Maroussi), Yannis Kalampokis, Vassilis Xanthopoulos (Panionios), Demtres Tsaldares (Aris), Kostas Koufos (Ohio State).

Hopefully he's lost more weight.
