What do you guys think of this one?

Is it too much salary to take on?
I'm debating whether the additional pick is too much. They're definitely going to want the #6.

I don't mind giving up the 6th pick but we don't need to give up a future pick. Maybe we could get a future 2nd rounder also.

Better yet, what do you think of the pickup of Josh Howard and Jason Terry?
It gives us a lineup of:
Brand
Kaman
Howard
Terry
Livingston
The only thing I don't like is that Thornton has to come off the bench. But maybe that's a good thing.
Or maybe we can package Howard to get a PG somehow.

Since we lose Mobley in the deal, it would actually be a luxury to have Thornton coming off the bench. Who knows, maybe Howard could be the 6th man...better yet, let those to try to out-play each other for a spot. If Livingston is shaky at the PG spot I think it does us well to have Terry there to compensate. For us, I like this deal.
I don't see how it benefits Dallas very much though. They would give up two secondary scorers for...two secondary scorers...but I suppose that sometimes a change in personnel is all you need.

If we do this deal, put Terry at the point and Thornton at the SG.

The thing is that Thornton isn't much of a 2 guard. If Shaun is healthy then Terry could play the 2 but guard the PGs and Livingston guard the SGs. Much like Iverson ans Snow used to do for the 6ers.

I'd much rather have Terry start at PG, and have Shaun be a role player off the bench. There's no way we can afford to keep Thornton on the bench not starting with how much he's been progressing as a player.

Just move Josh to SG and have Thornton start at SF. Terry can come off the bench and backup either Josh or Shaun.

I'm with Fishy in this debate.

I think the deal would be a nice upgrade for us and put is in a position to be competitive right out the gate. The real issue I currently have is how to best utilize the lineup. Thornton and Howard both play better at the 3 than at the 2, although I could see Howard playing more at the 2 than Thornton. Terry can play both 1 & 2 but has been more productive at the 2.
A healthy Livingston gives us pretty good versatility in our lineups and matching up on defense. I don't see him starting at the beginning of the season though, so as said CD mentioned, he could be a nice role player off the bench in the beginning. One of Terry, Thornton or Howard coming off as 6th man would be a nice sparkplug off the bench. If this was possible, I'd say do it and worry about who's playing where after.

While we're at it. Lets fire Dunleavy, and pickup Avery Johnson to coach us. >.>

Fishy, you're 2-for-2 with me so far in this thread.

I'm one of the few who likes Dunleavy, but I'd go with the Little General every time...he's a players coach, but still tough, just what the young guns need to shape 'em up and just what the vets want cuz he'll let 'em play.

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy was on shaky ground with owner Donald Sterling earlier this season; if he were available, the New York native definitely would draw interest from Walsh.

Let's make it happen.

I'm all over the Avery Johnson bandwagon.

Or even Mark Jackson while we're at it.

A lot of us like Maggette to Dallas. But I don't think Maggette/Mobley is better than Howard/Terry, and the point of that trade would be to continue trying to win now. The draft picks are nice, but this doesn't make us better now.
I think Dallas has to trade Howard and Terry separately. I'd like to see them go after Maggette and Shawn Marion, so both Howard and Terry can't both be in this deal. What can we do where Terry and Maggette are the main players?

Dallas Fan: Your window is closed. No more thoughts of winning now.

I doubt there's anything in return we'd want besides Howard or Terry.

They didn't put "scout" under my name just cause I have over 100 posts.
Well.. Maybe they did, but lets pretend it's cause I know who's good for the team.
