There are a lot of first and second tier stars in the NBA who looks like they could become available this summer. The Clippers have a solid foundation, but also have enough assets to build that foundation stronger by acquiring one of these stars. Who do you want to see wearing the red, white and blue next November?

I want to see the Clipps go after Baron, and hope to god that they go after him hard.

With that said, the player that we know can fit into our system perfectly would be Michael Redd.

So, it's kind of hard to say pick one of those players, but it's down to those two for me.

The only player on your list I would be interested in is Arenas.

I'd like to see the Clippers pursue Jose Calderon and Jason Kapono of Toronto, offering Maggette (S&T), this year's pick (if not in the top 2) and Q Ross(S&T).

Out of those guys, I'd like to see (in order of preference):
1. Baron
2. Shane Battier
3. Mike Miller
4. Michael Redd

Having Baron Davis suit up for us would mean that we're set in the front court and illin' in the back court as well. Shane Battier is one of those guys who just seems to make whatever team he plays on a perennial playoff contender. Mike Miller is a solid 3-point shooter, which is another pressing need of ours, and he'd fill that role nicely. I imagine Michael Redd playing a similar role to Mike Miller, but I'm not convinced that he'll be as cheap as the other role players I just mentioned. He'll want franchise player-type money, and he won't be that for us. Otherwise, Redd would be a good asset.

I guess my biggest concern with acquiring B-Diddy or Agent 0 is that we would be throwing all of our eggs (pick, maggette, depth) into one basket for a player that has had strong injury concerns. I'd love to have players of their caliber of talent but I'm concerned with the high risk that is attached to the possible high reward. On the other hand a ballsy move is what this team needs.

Redd: The guy can spread the floor allowing Kaman and Brand to do their thing down low. I believe that he and Thornton on the wings would be a nightmare for the opposing team.

Davis: Davis would solve our point problems and give us a legitimate star to complement Brand. We'd still need to find a good shooter to complement him in the backcourt though.

Arenas: I've been up and down on this dude all year (no homo). If the knee troubles are gone, then he's a great addition. He's a hometown guy like Baron, brings star power, and would really be able to open up the game for everybody else. He'd definitely make the hallway matchups much more entertaining.



Battier: This was discussed the other day and Battier is like the ultimate teammate. The guy gives you a little bit of everything and is an excellent perimeter defender. I could see him coming off the bench getting time at both forward positions depending on the matchups. If we could only move Timmy all would be well.

Ford: I'm a little bit interested in a Maggette for Moon & Ford trade. Although, I'm really not looking forward to seeing another Clipper be carted away on a stretcher. Like jgustav, I'm also more interested in Calderon.


I'm still a bit undecided but that beard would look pretty good in red, white & blue.

Obtaining Calderon is tempting, but he's not worth giving up Kaman for, even if you throw in Rasho. You might as well have said "Kaman for Calderon + a bag of Funyuns."

I think you're way underestimating the value of a Center. Kaman may be #3 in the league (behind Howard and Yao), or 4th if you consider Stoudamire a Center.

We don't get to see Toronto much so I never knew how bad Rasho was until I saw him in the playoffs this year. He really stinks.

If Kaman is traded for a PG, it would have to be in a package for someone like Gilbert Arenas, not Calderon.

Here is my list.

1. Baron Davis
2. TJ Ford / Jose Calderon
3. Mike Miller

5. Kirk Hinrich
6. Michael Redd
7. Chris Duhon

On top of the list is Baron/TJ/Jose take priority due to the big need of a consistent PG.

Next is Miller and Battier for their known 3 point shooting which is something we desperately need.

After is Hinrich/Duhon if Davis,Ford,Calderon isn't available.

And lastly Michael Redd for his consistent outside shooting that will compliment Kaman/Brand inside.

I would pass on Arenas since he failed to even finish the Playoff series due to his injury. Anthony is a no-no cause I don't like him, cause he all does is score from the inside/mid range, and his non-existing defense. Iverson just doesn't seem like he'd compliment the team too well.

I want with Captain Kirk. I just think he would be the cheapest to acquire[yes I know he makes 10 mil, but it's on a frontloaded contract so it's going to drop] and is a solid fit for Dunleavy. He can knock down the open j and plays solid defense, so we don't have to worry about Ross starting ahead of Thornton like Coach did with Sammy/Ross starting. Let's say we get Kirk and somehow draft Mayo..Hinrich-Mayo-Thornton-Brand-Kaman looks good enough to me.

i say we sign B.davis and we trade cat mobley and Knight for mike miller. and keep Corey.

Why does everybody want Baron? I know he's great, but he's due for another knee injury...and the clippers are known for major knee injuries.

True, but....Baron has a much longer history of injury and more severe. And he makes a lot more than Arenas. And he's older. There's a reason he went to GS in the first place, the Lakers didn't want him.

Kirk's coming off of a poor season which would be good for us. I'd love a Hinrich/Mayo backcourt though. Both are combos that can shoot and defend the perimeter. A third team would more than likely be necessary as the Bulls already have Deng/Noc at the 3 and a Gordon/Maggette backcourt doesn't seem like the best idea.

i think it would be cool if Captain Kirk but why would the bulls not re-sign him but if we can get him it would be nice but if you can't then we need to get b.davis/or Agent 0...

Corey is expendable now that we have Thornton. It's best to use him as trade bait. IMO, Mobley has more value to the Clips.

Your idea would be great to sign Davis if we had any cap space to do that. A major draw-back of trading for Baron Davis is that we'd have to give up major depth to make salaries match. The Clippers would have to give two of either Maggette/Thomas & Knight/Mobley and even that likely wouldn't be enough talent to get back for Davis. Golden State would probably demand our pick, which would mean we'd be trading at least two rotation players and our #1 pick for the oft-injured Davis. Like somebody mentioned earlier in a different thread, that's a lot of eggs to put in one basket.

I've suggested we do Maggette, Thomas, Knight & #6 and a future 1st for Davis, Azubuike & #14. That seems like the only way Golden State can get fair value for Davis and the Clippers can keep some of their depth.
