How reasonable is an offer that centers around Okur, Ronnie Brewer and either Morris Almond or the Jazz 2008 #1 pick and the 2010 NY unprotected #1 pick for Kaman and Brevin Knight? Or, Okur, Harpring, Brewer and either Almond or 2008 #1 and the NY 2010 for Kaman and Mobley?

Pretty reasonable. I don't see the Clippers trading Kaman, but it's a respectable offer.

It's not laughable, but the Clippers wouldn't give up Kaman for that. Since good centers are hard to come by in this day, I think Kaman may be the only untradable player on the team. Yup, I said it...even before EB (just because his contract is expiring). I think Kaman is too valuable for the Clippers to give him up, unless we are "overpaid" in a trade for him.

I agree with all of the above.

Okur's not bad but he's not a real center. Maybe you should look for a big bruiser/rebounder type, you don't need a scorer.

I like what Okur brings to the table. I also think that Utah is giving up quite a bit which could sway the overall value in our favor depending on how those picks play out (primarily the Knicks). At the same time, as long as Kaman stays focused he will be a top 5ish center in the league at a reasonable salary. I'm in agreement with everyone else here and would have to decline the offer.

I'd probably take either trade you've proposed although I like the second one better. The Clippers could end up trading Mehmut Okur to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich and possibly move Maggette and Morris Almond to Portland for Joel Pyrzbilla and Martell Webster. The 7th pick could be used for either a C such as Brook Lopez (doubtful he would be there) or DeAndre Jordan. The NY 2010 pick is what sways this one in the Clippers favor.

Respectable offer but IMHO not worth it in the long run.

CAT>Brewer/Harpring

Knight>Almond

I would take either deal in a heartbeat simply to get out of Kaman's contract. Okur has only 1 year + PO compared to Kaman's which runs for the next billion years. And after watching the Jazz in the playoffs, Harpring/Brewer is definitely an upgrade over Cat at relatively the same money.

Not sure why Utah would touch this deal as it adds to their long-term payroll, doesn't solve their need for a slasher (Corey!) and replaces one of their best perimeter shooters/mismatches with a traditional center that will clog the lane for Boozer.

It is good to see another rational viewpoint on this thread. Too many people have forgotten we only one 23 games this season, Kaman had career high statistics with Brand out but it doesn't matter if you consistently lose games. Kaman isn't worth Okur, 2 or 3 rotation players and a Knicks future #1 pick.

How can you say Cat Mobley is better than Ronnie Brewer and Matt Harpring? Brewer is young and plays great defense. Harpring is a very good role player.

I know Brewer is known for his Defense, and in college he certainly looked the part. But did you see the way Kobe manhandled him? He got worked all over the floor, there was nothing Brewer could do to stop him.

That being said, Mobley is not better than both of those guys combined.

Neither one of those guys can knock down a consistent jumper or score 20+ in a game and their D is mediocre. Just ask Kobe!
