As per the ping pong balls dropping as such, the Clippers will have the 7th overall pick in the upcoming draft. Here's the entire draft order:

13. Portland
12. Sacramento
11. Indiana
10. New Jersey
9. Charlotte
8. Milwaukee
7. LA Clippers
6. New York
5. Memphis
4. Seattle (or OK City?)
3. Minnesota
2. Miami
1. Chicago

I have headache right now. :nonono:

Damn Chicago :nonono:

I'm glad that Rose & Beasley will be staying out east thoguh. Especially Rose since we already have Paul, Williams, Parker, Nash and so on to deal with out here.

It's either Russell Westbrook or Eric Gordon. That's it. No other picks are acceptable.

We gotta choose Westbrook if we stay at 7.

I think we'd be better off with Gordon. He's strong, he can finish and he's got a quick release and is comfortable behind the arc. Besides, we'd be reaching if we drafted Westbrook. Teams that let the best player available fall to them at #7 instead of drafting for need usually get the best results. Gordon isn't the ideal pick, but at least he'd help the backcourt (and he doesn't turn 20 until December). Here are the recent #7 picks:

Damon Stoudami
Lorenzen Wright
Tim Thomas
Jason Williams
Richard Hamilton
Chris Mihm
Eddie Griffin
Nene
Kirk Hinrich
Luol Deng
Charlie Villanueva
Randy Foye

It doesn't seem like that far off of a trade to me if you change it to #2 + Marion for Brand + #7.

This would be a no brainer if Rose dropped to #2. I can't see why Miami would do it though, since they may be able to sign Brand after next season as an UFA with Marion's contract off the books.

I can't see the Clippers doing it if Beasley is available at #2, improving the backcourt doesn't get addressed. Mayo and the other guards aren't worth the #2 pick.

#2 + Marion sounds way better. However, I'd never be happy with letting our franchise player go.

I know this is going off topic a little bit but I was working yesterday during the draft lottery. I was pissed when I heard that we dropped to 7th. I don't get how a team like Chicago wins the draft lottery. They we're that bad to begin with, they could make the playoffs if they got their act together.

I do like the idea of trading down to draft CDR. We could also go with Gordon or Westbrook. But I'd rather not draft Westbrook.

Westbrook isn't what we need but if selected he might be a good piece to add with TT and Maggz/CAT to get either a lower pick(i.e. CDR/Memphis) or a higher pick(i.e. OJ/USC) and a few quality role players to replace existing players dealt.

It's a shame, we never get lucky in the top-heavy lotteries, when there are a couple of clearly dominant guys at the top. Why is that?

(the Brand trade was a nice pull, though...)

Sonics will trade the #24 pick for the #7

CDR likely available at 24

I don't know why any clips fan would consider trading away Gordon (if he is there) for some role players and to get CDR. If shaun comes back, stays healthy, you guys have a bright future with Gordon and Livingston in the backcourt. And Thorton, this guy is a stud. Brand and caveman as the bigs, this team will be solid again if they stay healthy.

Keep the pick I would say and go Gordon.

I definitely agree. If Shaun is able to be a big contributor to the team's future then he's able to make the team that more versatile. His size and ability to guard the bigger guards as well as being a good ball-handler would be a great fit/balance with some of these rookie combos.
