After nearly a year and a half of rehabilitation, Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston has been medically cleared for basketball-related activities.

Livingston, 22, has played two games of one-on-one this past week and his seriously injured left knee has improved to the point where is now dunking. The odds of him being cleared to play in the Las Vegas summer league, however, remain small.

LA Times

It's great news to hear that Livy is back and able to participate in contact activities. I'd like for him to be able to play in the Summer league just to get a feel for some of the younger players, but even if he was able to it would still probably be in his best interest not to.

Hopefully this good news will give management enough faith in Shaun to re-sign him.

I'm very excited to hear this news. I wish that he was well enough to play in summer league, this is a long precess for him to come back. I just hope that he'll be able to play this season even if it isn't with us.

Well as much as this new RealGM format confused me...

This is good stuff to hear. I wish he could be healthy enough to play with the kids in summer league, but maybe its better if he sits until training camp.

Livingston probably isn't getting the QO if it's true that it's unlikely he will be cleared to play in summer league.

What's with MIA and trying to gather up Clippers players? A healthy Livingston could do wonders for their backcourt, this is true. But Cloud, I am curious. It seems strange to me that a team other than the Clippers would have the slightest amount of optimism about a player who suffered the most You-Tubed injury of the decade. Is Miami truly interested in him if the Clippers choose to make him an UFA? Or is it just wishful thinking on a fan's part?

I think it may be a little bit of both. :D

I, for one, love nice, over sized guards. You can call it a Magic-thing. Its probably a long shot but I there's nothing nicer than a player who makes a huge comeback. I think we Miami fans are a bit spoiled by Alonzo Mourning. The ultimate Comeback story of heat history, maybe even NBA history. The man gets both Kidneys removed, plays with a donor-cousin kidney and gives it everything he has and more.

The kind of drive that you get from something like that gives true fans goosebumps. We tried it again last year with Penny, and I for one thought it was going quite well. He led our team in 3pt % and was the best and giving Shaq the ball where he wanted it, but Riles was unhappy so off he went.

Who knows where that next huge comeback story will happen? :meditate:

I think with Brand it's understandable. He did sign an offer sheet with Miami back then. Just like how some Clipper fans think Arenas will come to the Clips because we were supposedly one coin toss away from obtaining him.

With Livy, I think if and when he becomes a UFA, there will be some interest, and on the cheap. It's a low risk, high reward for many teams to pick him up, and Miami is just one of those teams in need of a PG.

I doubt he will ever play again in Pro Basketball. It's a sad thing.. He was so talented. I remember the day we drafted him, I was pretty goddamn exciting..
