FA Targets
Since we have only the min. to spend I was thinking about these players.
PG: Anthony Carter/Tyronn Lue/ Lindsey Hunter (maybe)/ Eddie House/ Shannon Brown/ Arroyo (he might get more, but he could be available)/ Dooling (see Arroyo)/ Damon Stoudamire
SG: Kareem Rush (prob. not)/ Casey Jacobsen/ Fred Jones (maybe)/ Juan Dixon (maybe)/ Eric Pike/ Giricek (possibly)/ Ronald Dupree
SF: Devin Brown/ Devean George/ Maurice Evans (possibly)
PF: Croshere/ Brian Skinner
C: Patrick O'Bryant/ Jamaal Magliore/ Adonal Foyle/ Francisco Elson

Re: FA Targets
As far as our needs:
1) Durable, veteran PG. I would break it down like this.
A. Dooling (he is a former Clipper, plays good defense, and has playoff experience)
B. Hunter (he may be old but he's battle tested)
C. Tyronn Lue ( fast and playoff experienced)
2. A defensive wingman off the bench.
None of the above really fit the bill. I say just re-sign Q Ross at like 2 mil a year or something since we still have his rights. After that I would target one more shooter off the bench, of those I would say
A. Ronald Dupree
B. Pike (hometown hero, but can he even play anymore?)
C. Rush
If we don't re-sign Ross I would target three SFs.
A. Maurice Evans (that would be great)
B. Devin Brown
C. Devean George
All of them are playoff veterans and would bring good experience. Maurice Evans would be ideal.
3. A veteran, tough big man. Maybe a few. As far as that goes I would say for PF
A. Brian Skinner
B. Screw Croshere, just go after Skinner.
4. For centers
A. Magliore (he's played with Davis before and was a former all-star)
B. Foyle
C. Elson.

Re: FA Targets
Now of course there are a couple of players who could be bought out of their contracts such as:
Stephon Marbury
Jerome James
Antoine Walker
Marco Jaric
Charile Villanueva (doubtful but we'll see...)
Bobby Simmons
Of those I think only James could be had for the minimum. Perhaps Jaric but I doubt it. All depends on what the market is like when they're bought out. Maybe we could get them for a one year deal or something.

Re: FA Targets
With all this said here is how I see the lineup shaping up approximately
PG: Davis/Dooling/Taylor
SG: Mobley/ Gordon/ Dupree
SF: Thornton/ Ross/ George
PF: Brand/ Powell/ Skinner
C: Kaman/ Fazekas/ Magliore
Not great but not a terrible bench all and all. It has some good veterans on board and that's what's important. It's also possible that we bring Sofo over but I doubt that unless he really gets into shape.

Re: FA Targets
I like how much thought you put into this. Magloire/Skinner/George would by my ideal three players to sign this off-season. I do think Sam Cassell is a strong possibility. Skinner is an ex-Clipper and I think he would be excited to return. Magloire is another good possibility. He will probably be overlooked by the elite teams and could fall right in our lap like DeAndre Jordan did in the draft. I think Dooling will want a big chunk out of the MLE and I hope we don't give it to him. Unless I'm missing something, Brevin Knight should be penciled in for now as our backup PG. I'd like to see either Taylor or Livingston be our 3rd string behind Davis and Knight.

I'd be cool with Skinner, Evans (would be great but I doubt it) , Devin Brown and possibly even Lue.

Re: FA Targets
I think a player like Skinner who can bring toughness at both front court positions would be an ideal fit. Id settle for a Magloire but I would much prefer Skinner. If they are both gone we should go after an Elson or Wright.
As far as wings go, Id be happy with Fred Jones, Tony Allen or a Devean George. If any of them would take the min, that would be great. I also wonder how much players like James Jones, Azubuike, Salim Stoudamire, Matt Barnes, etc would require.
At PG I think if we can bring Sammy in and hopefully get Shaun back on the team we should be fine.

That would be crazy if Dooling & Skinner returned to Clipper Nation

Re: FA Targets
Why the hell would you want ex-Los Angeles scrubs back on the team? You really think they're going to get better? I think Damon Stoudamire, Maurice Evans, and Jamaal Magloire would be the only ones to consider this off-season. Evans I think is going to sign back with the Magic if everything else falls through or the Sixers, I think Stoudamire might retire and Magloire is a nice possibility who I wouldn't mind on the team as he would be a good back-up and reunite with B-Diddy who made him an all-star.

Re: FA Targets
Retaining Knight as our backup PG is a better option than most of those PGs on the list. Despite his deficiencies he's at least a change of pace from Brevin and not another shooter masquerading as a PG.
Retaining Ross is the other key because our perimeter defense is soft. Otherwise, someone from the Tony Allen/Devean George mold would be ok but a downgrade on D. We've got the other end covered.
I agree that we need another big man, but signing Magloire AND Skinner seems farfetched given the demand for bigs across the league.

Re: FA Targets
^ I agree about Ross. I'm actually starting to think it would be wise to move Mobley to free up the starting SG for Ross and have Gordon come off the bench. Only if it's worth it, of course. I just think there is finally reason for Ross to be on the floor now that our roster is competitive. We will definitely have enough fire power to make up for Q's shortcoming on offense and Gordon is a great contrast at SG off the bench.

Piatkowski should have retired about 3 years ago. He scored a little over 100 points in the last 3 seasons combined, without having a significant injury.

Re: FA Targets
We need to seriously look at the following players when/if Maggette/Livingston leaves: Devin Brown(Cavs), Devean George(Mavs), Jarvis Hayes(Pistons), Matt Barnes(GSW), Kareem Rush(Pacers), Kirk Synder(Wolves), Bonzi Wells(Hornets), Mo' Evans(Magic), James Jones(Blazers) or even Brian Skinner(Suns)

Re: FA Targets
Bumpin up this thread cause much as changed. Here are some players I seem a bit interested in.
UFA:
Kwame Brown
Jamaal Magloire
Quinton Ross
RFA:
Josh Smith
Emeka Okafor
Nenad Krstic
Craig Smith
Ryan Gomes
Carl Landry
Kelenna Azubuike
I know you guys would laugh at Kwame on the list, but he's always played well defensively. He would fit well if no one gave a damn about trying to give him the ball on offense. Also is there any news on Powell, is he still under contract with us? And Paul Davis?
