Back-up plan at PF

I'm a celtics fan and i was excited to see kaman, baron and brand team up for the clippers and i believe they can be another LA rival team for us. However, with brand gone to philly. i think you should make a push for other free agent PF's to be able to compete with the west's elites.
1st option
Okafor - kaman and okafor can be as effective as kaman and brand
J.Smith - this will give them a lot of athleticism inside and would allow bdiddy to run and gun the clips offense
C.Smith - he can come cheap but can be very effective playing with a legit 7 footer in kaman
Landry - same as C.smith

So Okafor > Brand? Hell, is Okafor = Brand?
Your hilarious.

I think LAC should go after Josh Smith with a 5 year $65 million offer.
Kaman
Smith
Thornton
Gordon
Baron.

65 million would be matched by the hawks.

knowing your owner's tendencies, he'd probably go after charlie villanueva as he'd come cheap

That's exactly who they're targeting now. It's better than nothing I guess and a better investment than Brand at 29.

Great idea. Ask Knick and Blazer fans what they think of this loser.

I don't think that is what the OP was trying to say. Brand and Kaman are both post up guys who are similar. With the break out of Kaman last year, pairing him with a defensive presence like EO50 makes a lot of sense.
Plus, Davis made Biedrins and effective player last year ... and let's face it, he's not.

WE think that he is a GOD.
U can have him for Tim Thomas... or Mobley and Tim Thomas

I really like Zach Randolph too, i would be upset to see him go. But you guys really need a pf so it would be ok with me. As long as fugazy doesent come back for him, ah whatever, i would take fugazy.

Smith woyld be the best plan B now. But Okafor wouldn't be that bad of a consolation.

Not necessarily Hawks don't want to go over $11mil/yr.

They've publicly said they'll match any offer. Anything else is just journalistic speculation.

Then let them match. We'll be sure to overpay to make things harder for them.

I see little or no chance of either Josh Smith or Okafor signing with the Clippers and not being matched by their teams. The Bobcats offered Okafor an extension starting at 13 million per year last offseason that he turned down and they drafted a PG with their first pick.

More realistic and perhaps better alternative is to sign a guy like Josh Childress. He's solid as a starter or 6th man and can play multiple positions and then use some of the remaining cap room on guys like Turiaf or Krstic to platoon at PF. Servicable big men that won't embarasses us on nightly basis, will hopefully come relatively cheap and will be a short term fixe until we find the long-term solution.

Wallace hates Dunleavy from their time together in Portland, that won't work.

The best bet for an RFA that won't be matched is Carl Landry. He had an excellent PER last season and cap rules dictate that the max he can be offered is the MLE. The reason Houston might not match is they are only 3.5M below the luxury tax level. If he was offered 3yr/15M, I'm not sure they match. That would cost them 7.5M this season in actual dollars and use their entire MLE (well most of it), so they couldn't add another piece if they wanted to.
You can make an offer to Josh Smith, but I have full confidence that Atlanta will take the full 7 days and match.
My other thoughts are Tim Thomas to NY for Eddy Curry. Cheaper than Zack Randolph, offensively proficient, and his defense and rebounding woes are minimized by playing next to Kaman.
Or offer a 1st round pick to Denver for Nene. They are over the luxury tax level by about what Nene makes. Every dollar they save is $2 real dollars to the owner.
