Not to put more logs into the fire but does this mean Baron will still sign with the Clips? I bet he expected to team up with Brand so what does he do now?

Unless somebody is offering more money, there's no reason to believe he won't.

The contract he agreed to is pretty reasonable. I think there could be other teams that would also offer the same, and not have just lost their best player.
The only saving grace here is that the Clippers fortunately play in Los Angeles, where Diddy wants to be.

At this point, if we pay him more than $65 mil I don't think anybody would argue. God knows we have the cap space. Either that or we try the Knight/Mobley/Thornton/Thomas/Kaman experiment.

Didn't we try that experiment last season? It seems to have worked out quite well.

Yes, but at this point I don't think anyone would be surprised if Davis bolted and signed on with a different team for the same contract, even if the Clips upped their offer...

^ If by winning 23 games = quite well.

Well, for my money, if the Clippers are destined to end up not signing any other major FA alognside Davis this off-season, there's no need for Davis here either. A Davis-Thornton-Kaman team can't compete in the west for a playoff spot. Might as well drop the Davis idea and just go completely young and continue on with the forever rebuilding tradition.. If Josh Smith ain't coming here, might as well tell Baron not to bother coming here either. Might as well save some more cash and aim for a high lotto pick next year.
I am very disappointed with what has happened today. I didn't expect Brand to bolt to Philly. And if Maggette was gonna go to the GS Warriors, why the heck the did the clippers chose to renounce Brand instead of Maggette? Just baffles my mind really.

It's not like signing Baron now breaks the bank. Without Elton we're still well below the salary cap so from a business perspective you might as well keep him or struggle to make minimum salary threshold.
I don't think anyone else has the cap room to compete for Baron so we are stuck.

What's your point? You can't be a fan of players from other teams?

I can see why you're on the verge of being banned.

LOL, you are right. Can the Clippers 'renounce' Baron Davis as well?

What the hell, why don't we trade Kaman for expiring contracts too? We don't need a $50 million dollar, top 5 center when it's going to take Gordon and Thornton a million years to develop.

Your the one being an ahole. It was just what I think.
I know clipper fans are mad
and I'm sometimes a semi-fan of other team players. Not enough to rep them that much

It is ironic though. Had we known that Brand was gonna bolt, then at the very least we'd probably go after other FA's. Baron is in the prime of his career but is not young.
It's not a bad fit by any means (we got him for a decent price), but losing Brand certainly changes the outlook going forward.
Although technically, since it was only a verbal agreement and all...

Or prize for our exceptional performance got us Gordon. If that doesn't reek of awesomeness I don't know what does.

I call for
24 wins this season! Let's go Clippers!

Without Brand, you guys should pull that Baron deal off the table, too. Let him sign with the Lakers for the MLE.

QFT
Anyways, no way Diddy inks with us b/c his main reason for coming was to play alongside EB not a rook, a soph and a serviceable C. Also, don't let me get started on our shady bench.
