Let's Move On

I know that everyone is upset about Brand (including myself), but it doesn't make sense for us ta be mad forever. All of us have lives outside of basketball. The best thing to do is to move on and see how we can improve our team from here. Staying mad won't change anything that has happened.
The best option for me right now is if we try and sign Josh Smith. We'll be able to get another PF at some point.

You guys can call me a bit crazy if you want, but I think we were in a better position now than we were a few years back. Yes it would have been awesome to have Brand/Davis, but now we have an all-star PG in our hands here.
Isn't that harder to come by than a great PF? Even then, we can just get ourselves a quality serviceable PF, and improve other positions. It wouldn't work the other way around because we've had Brand and Maggette for many years with an average PG at best throughout that entire time. What has that gotten us? Not a damn thing until Cassell arrived.
We still have Kaman down low. We've seen what he can do last year, and his workload will be less so he won't tire out like he did half way into the season. Powell has improved much last season and I feel he can be a nice contributor to the team this year. If Thomas can stop sucking and actually stay on the court we might be okay, but the front office still needs to make some moves. I believe this is our current roster.
C: Kaman, Jordan, (Davis?)
PF: Thomas, Powell, Fazakas
SF: Thornton, Williams
SG: Mobley, Gordon
PG: Davis, Knight
Ross and Livingston is still up in the air...
Just remember that Centers and Point guards are the key positions.

I like your thinking Fishy, and I'm glad that some one is ready to move on. It's time for the other players on our roster to step up. The only thing I don't like about our team right now is that Tim Thomas is our PF. We still have time so sign free agents so I hope we are able to sign some one better at PF.
I was also able to see some of Brands press conference in Philly, he brought his whole family and he looks happy. I'm still a Brand fan. He is a hard worker and we are both from the same area in NY.
I hope that we are able to get a PF that will make our team better. I also hope that Davis signs soon since free agency has officially started.

We can move Kaman down to the point to. You see those sick skillz he has? Just look at guyver's avatar.

The dood is a total playmaker. The hell with Davis.

I think the Clips should see if they could somehow get Marion. Offer Thomas and Mobley. That would nearly match the salaries. Apparently he wants an extension and the Heat won't offer one. The CLips obviously could. Building around Marion, Davis, and Kaman would be a nice foundation.

Unfortunately, the last time Kaman tried being a guard and went for a crossover from the top of the key, he embarrassingly got it picked clean.

lol. marion would fit well with the clips but thomas and mobley wouldnt get you anything in this league. Marion actually does have value though, so you're gonna have to give up something to get him. Thornton and/or eric gordon would definitly have to be going the other way at least probably along with a re-signed livingston

It seems to get us Zach Randolph. :O but that's not saying much since I'm sure Knicks fans would accept some chewed up gum that's stuck under a seat for him.

After the news settled in that player #42 was really gone, I started thinking that maybe, maybe...this could prove to be a good thing. We all know Baron wants to get up and down the court and throw lobs, and we all know that the presence of player #42 required us to set up a slow, pound-the-ball-into-the-post offense. And maybe...maybe...with the addition of Davis and the possible resurgence of Livingston, Dunleavy will alter his outlook on offense. Lord, if he could turn our offense into the Phoenix Suns and our defense into the Detroit Pistons...I'm providing an overstatement to prove a point here...we could be okay.

That would be a tempting trade for the Clips. Z-Bo is a very talented offensive player. However, he doesn't like to pass very much

I'm coming around as well to this being a blessing in disguise (textbook denial). To put things in perspective, our record during the Brand/Maggette era:
2007-08 23-59
2006-07 40-42
2005-06 47-35
2004-05 37-45
2003-04 28-54
2002-03 27-55
Can't fully lay the blame on them, but why not make a change given the mediocrity and that retaining Elton and adding Baron didn't guarantee us a playoff team?

^ You're right EB and Maggette never made us look like a playoff team or contender so I'm all for us moving on and going in a different direction.

It's from a lack of a true play making PG. Notice the 2 years we do good we had Sam Cassell. We have that now along with a key big guy named Kaman. It's time to build around Kaman and get some shooters. We have our low post presence, a slasher in Thornton, and a all-star play maker in Davis. Get some good role players and shooters and I think we'll be competitive.

True but EB and Maggette were always labeled as cornerstone players for this team which I never understood because they both were never leaders on or off the court.

Sure, it's for a whole host of reasons - bad PGs, bad coaching, injuries, lack of depth... but the point is... let's move on!
