Its a shame because I think the Clippers are an obvious place to send Randolph to. I just don't see a realistic deal happening.

Someone needs to get confirmation if discussions even took place concerning Zach. We'd love to dump him here and if true our front office is dumber than all get out but I don't believe this now that I've though it over. I think this stems from the rumored Mobley for Crawford discussion. The Knicks probably didn't like the fact reports surface that they are actively shopping Crawford, Curry, and Zach and because they all have such low value the only way to redeem oneself from reports is to twist it a different way to reflect more positively in the other's favor. I think our team is playing damage control and trying to build up assets. I like how nothing was mentioned what was being offered. I can't see the Clip camp leaking this.

Confirm this someone please.

Wow...the Clippers must be desperate for a PF. Hopefully this is true and the Clippers dodged a huge bullet.

I would much rather try to get Okafor or Smith before even considering Randolph.....IMHO...he's a last resort option....as in Defcon 5 option.

lol... Quite sad.. There are a few lower profile players I think would be nice to get. We don't necessarily need all-star type PF, just one who knows his role and contributes well.

Him and Craig Smith are decent pickups from the T-Wolves. I wouldn't mind trying for Krstic either. I think Landry is a RFA, and played well last season.

If this is true, the Clippers did dodge a huge bullet. I'd rather have Okafor.

My favorite Randolph story is about how, after being granted bereavement leave by the Blazers for the death of a very distant relative (and I think missing a game), he was spotted the very same night at a strip club. What a class act. Hasn't he also punched out a number of teammates in the course of his "illustrious" career. We have enough bad actors (TT) on this team already, we really don't need another.

I'm not buying it. There is no way the Clippers first option was Randolph.

rofl. I read somewhere Zach was hiding out at Dale Davis's house because he was afraid of Ruben Patterson coming after him.

Randolph does have a tremendous low post game and can shoot out to 20 feet. However, he rarely passes and plays less than stellar D. I agree that other options should be pursued. I also don't think he'd blend in well with Kaman dominating the low post options

I think that the deal offered was along the lines of Mobley & Thomas for Zach. Mobley & Thomas actually make slightly more than Zach this year, so you maintain all your cap space. You would have filled your PF position with Zach and could have still gone after Smith or even Iguodala.

Kaman/Jordan
Randolph/Powell/Fazekas
Smith/Thornton
Gordon/FA/Williams
Davis/Knight

Randolph would have to be the last option after all RFA were off the board. No doubt he could score 20+ ppg with the Clippers, but his defense and attitude wouldn't mesh with the team.

It had to be Mobley + Thomas for Zach...

This would have given the Clippers even more cap space...

Landing Zach to fill some of Brand's scoring and rebounding, and then adding a defensive stud like Josh Smith to play SF and also back up PF would have been huge for the Clips...

C:Kaman(36)/?
PF:Zach(36)/Smith(12)
SF:Smith(24)/Thornton(24)
SG:Gordon(36)/Thornton(12)
PG:Davis(36)/?

That's a very solid top 6 players who could all play 30+ MPG.

I've been suggesting that Mobley + Thomas for Zach trade for a while. I actually didnt realize that this trade could actually allow them to get more cap space to sign a guy like Josh Smith whose shotblocking ability could work well next to Randolph at the Forward position.
