Warriors sign Mo Evans!!!!!!

Post#1 » by illastrate » Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:26 am

The Clippers aren't done dealing. They signed Golden State forward Kelenna Azubuike (8.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg) to a three-year, $9.3 million offer sheet last week.

The Warriors have until Friday to match the offer, but two NBA sources said they will not because they signed forward Maurice Evans, who split time between the Lakers and Orlando last season, to a three-year, $6.4 million deal.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

So we now officially have a lineup of:

Davis/Knight
Mobley/Gordon
Thornton/Azu
Camby/Thomas
Kaman/Powell

This will be interesting...

Sounds great. :D I like the roster. Let's hope Timmy can shoot a bit better with our more fast pace offense. Same with Gordon..

I'll be able to rest a little more comfortably when Buike is introduced as a Clipper, but if it's true then that's great news for us. I like Evans as a player and he's not costing the Dubs too much, so for them I think he's a nice pickup.

My question is does Dunleavy sign 3 more players or does he stop at 14 as usual?

Clippers can't afford Landry. Cheaper bigs like Brian Skinner and Austin Croshere are more likely.

Great, so it looks like Azubuike will be a Clipper as well. :D

What should we be doing now?
I'd like to add another big body(reduces Thomas minutes :P ) on the cheap.

Players i think we should consider are:
Brian Skinner, Walter Herrmann, David Harrison, Randolph Morris and Adonal Foyle.

What do you guys think?

Evans backed out of the deal..He wants more $$$..Warriors will let Evans walk if his asking price is close to Azubuike's...

What a tool. At least with that kind of behavior I'm confident the Clippers will not target him if Azubuike gets matched now.

Evans really walked on the Warriors? If that's true, what's his deal? It ain't like he'll find better dollars anywhere else. He would've fit well with the Warriors run and gun style. As for the Clips looking for another big man, I would suggest Randolph Morris or David Harrison.

Didn't David Harrison have issues in Indiana? At least from what I can seem to remember. I wouldn't mind Skinner, Foyle, Hermann, or Magloire.

i wouldn't mind skinner. another very good interior defender. Magloire can still play imo. He would be a nice offensive pick up.

Warriors may add Maurice Evans
Golden State would likely allow Azubuike to join Clippers

Jul 22:
OAKLAND _ On the heels of adding point guard Marcus Williams, the Warriors could be adding free agent forward Maurice Evans, who played for both the Lakers and Magic last season.
Golden State has offered Evans a three-year, $6.4 million deal, but after initially agreeing to the terms, Evans is reportedly holding out for more money from the Warriors.

If they added Evans, it more than likely means the Warriors will not match the three-year, $9 million contract restricted free agent Kelenna Azubuike signed with the Los Angeles Clippers last week. Golden State has until Friday to match Azubuike's deal, but Evans represents a cheaper _ and perhaps better _ alternative.

In Evans, the Warriors would be getting an athletic swingman who's known as a solid defender and good 3-point shooter (he shot 39% on 3-pointers last season). The 6-foot-5 Evans averaged 9.3 points per game in 68 games for Orlando in 2007-08. He came to Orlando with Brian Cook in a November trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that sent Trevor Ariza to Southern California.

The 29-year-old Evans, who has played five seasons in the NBA, has also played with the Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings.

Evans ain't backin out, he's merely re-negotiating. Bookie will more than likely be a Clipper.

Now the Clippers need a PF/C: Here is my Top 3 and if we can't get any of them just re-sign Paul Davis as a project.

1.) Jamaal Magliore - He can still play, he has a history with Baron Davis and he was made into an All-Star but B-Diddy. I know Jamaal is older now but he would be a nice compliment off our bench.

2.) Brian Skinner - He proves that he is still in this league by being servicable. Give him 20 mins a game and he'll get you 8ppg, 6rpg. Which is good for a back-up, I wouldn't mind taking him back at all and he has some playoff experience under his belt now.

3.) Primoz Brezec - Probably the one with the most talent right now, younger, more athletic but has a bad attitude. Can't understand him most of the time but isn't a team-player, don't know if that'd work with Tim Thomas (Who I would love to trade for Vladimir Radmonovic) already in our locker-room. But if he got it together mentally, he can put up numbers.

Brezec signed with some European club. I think he was fed up with the NBA, and namely, Sam Vincent. I think Magloire can get an offer larger than the minimum which is all the Clippers can offer him. I think Skinner is the most likely option. I'd like to see the Clippers go out and trade for a Jason Collins/Jeff Foster kind of guy to be the teams 3rd big man.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
