Big Sofo vs Usa

Post#1 » by sofoklis » Sat Jul 26, 2008 5:02 pm

Greece will face Usa and you will see my favourite player to dominate again ,against Howard,Bosh and others.

On the proolympic tournament he was sick in the first 2 games and didnt play well. At the third game he was healthy and scored 14 points while playing good defence. I dont think that he will come to play for your team because my team Olympiakos will come to play to the nba league :D

Has he lost any weight since the last update?

This would be a good time for him to come over for us, but I don't see that happening for a couple of years if at all. I'm looking forward to seeing him again this summer, because he was an absolute beast 2 years ago. Although, no matter how he plays this time, the US will win. 8-)

Greece will win again. Greece is even better now. We have changed 4 players and the team is more young and athletic. You have no hope again. Dont understimate European players and especially Greek players. Also Sofo has lost some kilos(160 kilos from 200 kilos) and he will prove again, that nba centers are no match for him. Prepare yourself to see dunks in front of Howard and Bosh.

I am sure that Usa team will be better too(kobe returns) but you will lose again

This is why the weak Olympic coaching staff should have sent an invite to Kaman instead fo him playing for Germany. Once again the Clippers are given no respect .

So he's still about 350ish. That's a little better. Do you know what his target is? I know the Clips wanted him around 280 (~127 kilos), but I think that may be a bit much to ask at this point. I'm definitely rooting for him to get into shape though. All that weight is not good for his knees.

Loflin, according to this site we play Greece on August 14th.

Sweet, that's my birthday. I hope Sofo drops 30 and USA wins by 40. Time to blow out the candles.

Kaman is a joke. This slow guy is 10 times slower than Sofo(and sofo is 160 kilos) and he isnt something special. Also Germans with Dirk and Kaman were a joke in the proolympic tournament and lost easy from Croatia. At least they qualified

Now Greece destroyed all teams ,although i must admit that the teams were very weak. Even Puerto Rico lost with 30 points. Greece will win the gold medal and Usa and Spain will fight for the silver medal.

Sofo is now 160 kilos and the plan of the team is to go 135 kilos this year. This guy has no problem with his knees and he dunks all the time. He is a beast. The problem is that his stamina is bad because of his weight. He comes from the bench and change the game. Offcource he cant play 40 minutes ,but he can play 20 minutes.

There isnt Dream team anymore. Lebron,Wade,Carmello,Hinrich(lol),Bosh are not something special(only kobe is trully great). You will lose again from Greece ,because Greece has better players and team.

Kaman is a joke? Kaman is slow? SoFat was sent to Switzerland to undergo some type of weight loss program!

He couldn't just go jogging everyday and eat less in Greece. His own team told him he was too FAT to play! It would be hilarious if he went to a Swiss surgeon to get a gastric bypass.

If he didn't play basketball, Sofo the Fatso probably would weigh 500 pounds by now. I don't care if he ever comes to the NBA. Being physically fit to only play 20 minutes of basketball is pathetic for a pro basketball player in their early 20's.

Let's get something straight. I like Sofo and I can'twait till he plays for us. With that being said, I would not trade Kaman for Sofo. I hope the German team plays Greece just to show you how good Kaman is. Greece will probably win but Kaman will get his. Greece will give the US Team trouble and if I were to put money down on any long shot beating the US, it would be Greece. I think it will be a very close game so we will have to wait and see who ends up on top.

Idk if Kaman will get any touches, Dirk is gonna probly hog the ball.

But, the USA will drill Greece, who does Greece have? If Sofo gets the bigs for the USA in foul trouble then I think they could beat us, but if Howard and Bosh stay away from fouling, they will dominate the paint defensively. Do you really think Sofo can shoot over Dwight Howard who is 6'11 & has probably a 30+ inch vertical? I dont think so. I do want Sofo to play well, but I really want the USA to show him what the NBA is all about.

The Greek team has played together for quite a while. I think Sofo comes off the bench.

Sofoklis, I like your enthusisam for Sofo and the Greek team, but you are sorely mistaken if you truly think Kaman sucks or that the players the US have aren't any good beyond Kobe.

This matchup will be a game that both teams are marking their calendars for.

Kobe may be good but I think somebody else is going to be the star of the Olympics. That is what is so great when you have a team of All Stars. You can always use great players as a decoy.

2 years ago you had Wade,Carmelo,Bosh,Howard,Paul etc. All these are good players ,but you must all realise that you must make a good team. It doesnt matter now if you have the 12 best players. Basketball is different now. Trust me if you have not made a good team you will not win the gold medal.

Dirk's not a ballhog, it's just that there isn't much else to that team and that Nowitzki needs to take over every game.
Also, Kaman hadn't been with the team at all, before that qualifying tournament started and he now, hopefully, knows a little more of the plays the team runs.

Though, the reason i see, why Kaman could have trouble receiving any touches, is Germany's point guard play. Neither Hamann, nor Roller are anything great in Fiba competition and that's why opponents will probably play a lot of zone against them, cause they aren't a thread from outside(Roller only if he's having a great day) and aren't the best creators(especially Hamann).

Predictions aside, I love this about international/Olympic basketball. You can have 12 absolutely great players, but basketball is very much a team sport as well. The whole can be greater than the sum of the parts.

I still have problems with the way the US picks its team. They pick great players, but not necessarily the best overall team. I think they don't want to step on anyone's egos, etc. which is actually very understandable. But the bench players in particular should be picked to address team needs, whether its shooting, rebounding, defense, etc. And the best players for those spots may not be nearly the best overall players in the league.

Sofo is in great shape but like Sofoklis (the fan) said, his stamina is still pretty bad. But he's capable of playing 20 minutes per night at a high level.
I would like to see him play in the NBA because I think playing against the best will motivate him and make him work even harder but to be honest, Olympiacos is the richest team in Europe (they just signed Josh Childress and pretty much every good player available in Europe) so it will be hard for a player to leave the team. Sofoklis was probably joking when he said that Olympiacos will play in the NBA sooner than Sofoklis will, but I do have a feeling that if Stern goes ahead with his european expansion plans, Olympiacos would be one of the first teams invited.

As for the Olympics, Greece does seem to have it's best team in years as some veterans have left and the team is faster and more athletic. There are also 6 guys that are 6'9" or taller and all 12 players get minutes. I don't want to say that Greece will win the gold medal because it would be foolish to bet against the US, but you never know.
