Eric Gordon vs Jarryd Bayless

Post#1 » by E-TRAK » Sun Jul 27, 2008 5:14 am

hi there, raptors fan here..
im just curious about Jarryd Bayless.. I'm wondering why LAC passed him and why he dropped when he was projected to go highly at Seattle or LAC.

Were there any inside source from clippers media, about why Jarryd dropped ?

Thanks

There were rumors that the FO loved Gordon and were trying to move up to take him, but also rumors that Mayo was the intended target of the initial trade with Seattle.

When Bayless dropped in the draft, I was ecstatic because I thought that either player (he or Gordon) would really help us. From what I've heard/read, most teams didn't see Bayless as a point but as an undersized shooting guard. Gordon provides shooting, a similar ability to draw contact while driving to the basket, and plays pretty decent defense. So if you're getting a 2-guard either way, do you take the player with better ball-handling or the player that's longer, and a better defender? Imo if Shaun Livingston was fully healthy then we may have taken Bayless, because they would compliment each other exceptionally well. He has a great situation in Portland playing with Roy who looks to compliment him very nicely.

E-Go's skill set is way better than Bayless' IMO

Idk if Bayless is a true point. He was a huge ball hog in the preseason, sure he averaged like 25 points, but he had like 6 assists all summer.

I haven't seen Bayless but he has to have some skills if he scored all those points. Gordon did impress me in Summer League. I'll see who's better during the regular season.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
