The Clippers can still sign players to minimum contracts, and they are in talks to retain rehabilitating point guard Shaun Livingston and forward Paul Davis, both unrestricted free agents.
And they must also decide this week whether to pick up a team option on forward Josh Powell.
The Clippers also have had talks with free-agent center Francisco Elson, 32, who has played for three teams in five NBA seasons.

I hope the Clippers keep Livingston and Davis, especially Livingston. Clippers don't need Elson.

^ The sentiment with most Clippers fans seems to be that we all want Livingston to return, but don't think we will. Hopefully these talks work out well, and I'm with you WCDYNASTY, I don't think Elson is needed here.

We should let P.Davis walk, ink Elson and re-sign Ross. It's obvious that Shaun doesn't want to be here for minimum salary.

Re: Clippers talking with Livingston, P. Davis, and Elson.
MK posted this article last night. I would love to have Livingston back. Marcus Williams has improved a lot I hope that we wind up keeping him and I hope that Paul Davis is now healthy and recovered from his injury.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I'm not sure how the Clips expect to get Elson when I'd imagine he can easily get more than the minimum. However, he'd be the third big man behind two guys who have a history of injuries, so Elson may see the Clippers as a good opportunity. I'd like to keep Fazekas, regardless of what happens with Elson. Davis if we can't get Elson or a guy like Skinner. Let Livingston walk, or keep the roster at 15 to fit him in.

Re: Clippers talking with Livingston, P. Davis, and Elson.
I think all fans would like to see Shaun be re-signed purely to avoid the niggling thought of what could have been in the future. I think all fans have conceded that Shaun will never be the franchise player we wanted him to become, but after years of investment I'm sure we would all like to at least see what he can do. From Shaun's perspective, based on the guard rotation at LAC being a lot stronger than we first anticipated, he probably feels as if we have forgotton about him and moved on.
On the other hand, our front line is thin at best. I can definately see the use of having Francisco Elson as a back up. I always liked his game and found him to be a really aggressive defender. Re-signing Paul Davis is also vital, not only to complete the Davis trio, but also to be three deep from our big man positions.
Currently signed we have:
C: Kaman
PF: Camby
We have the options of:
Powell
Davis
Fazekas
That is hardly a deep enough front rotation to make any sort of noise, regardless on how deep we are at the guard spots. If Francisco Elson could be had at the minimum or whatever the Clippers can afford, it would be another solid move that would solidify our position as a team to look out for.

Re: Clippers talking with Livingston, P. Davis, and Elson.
About Livingston... like some others have mentioned, I hope we can keep him, but I don't think we should bend over backwards for him. We can't just keep waiting year after year for him to live up to his potential. I know he's only been in the league for 3 years, and that he's only 22, but I think we all know that the chance of him becoming a superstar is not very good, especially after the injury. Career averages of 7, 5, and 3 in roughly 30 minutes are nothing to brag about. These are decent numbers, but nothing to write home about. I don't think it's a matter of the Clippers' forgetting about Livingston. It's a matter of him not filling the role we need him to fill at the moment. They already said that he won't be able to handle a full season's load of games anytime soon. So what are the Clippers' going to do about the point guard situation? Keep the likes of an aging Brevin Knight and Dan Dickau?
I think it's better if he walks. Both parties will be happier in the end. He would be a good fit for a winning team, than can take on another project. We needs guys who can contribute know, not in a few years.
And signing Davis, as long as he is healed up, would be a good move. Also, Powell should be signed too. When he gets minutes, he's double double material.

Re: Clippers talking with Livingston, P. Davis, and Elson.
We better pick up Powell's option. I'd like to see Shaun back on the roster and wearing a Clipper uni when he makes his return. Davis has continued to work out with the team and appear at team related events so I assume that he will likely be back. Elson would be a nice pick up. He's a player that I would have liked us to pick up in the past so I'd be cool if he we signed him over Davis. Although, I think that he would look elsewhere when taking into account that we can't really give much as opposed to other teams.

Re: Clippers talking with Livingston, P. Davis, and Elson.
When I posted before regarding the front line I forgot to mention Deandre!
So, we currently have 9 solid spots on our roster.
(Davis, Hart, Mobley, Gordon, Davis, Thornton, Thomas, Camby, Kaman)
With the remaining spots we need to consider what we do with Mike Taylor and Shaun Livingston.
On the wing we seem to be taking Marcus Williams to camp and have less Q behind.
Then in the big man department we need to consider who we choose from the following;
Powell, Davis, Fazekas, Jordan, Elson.
I believe Taylor will be there along with Marcus Williams. 11. Josh Powell will have his option picked up. 12. If Livingston makes the team we only have 2 spots remaining for a combination of Davis, Fazekas, Jordan and Elson. I personally would want Jordan and Elson. I believe Elson could be that veteran big man off the bench and Deandre would mature training with the team, and, if not, become seasoned playing in the D-League.
Unfortunately, there isn't room for Fazekas. And, it may just be too hard to fit a Davis-trio on this team.

Elson is a no-brainer. The question is will he demand more than the minimum? I think so.
