Wow, either this means we are going to get somebody better than him at the backup PF/C position or...this just makes no sense.

I thought Powell would be effective with Davis aboard because of his good speed for a big man. I trust the Dunleavy and co. to make the right decision, and I'm expecting another signing shortly. Clipps wouldn't do this unless they are certain they can spend that money on a more experienced big like Elson. I believe the Clips are left with roughly over a million in cap space after releasing Powell.

Well, the decision was due by tomorrow. In the PC it was said that we are actively looking for a defensive big.

Personally, I think Elson or even Skinner would be an upgrade over Powell.

Noooooooo! I wonder who we're getting to replace him. Good luck to Josh. I'm sure he'll find another team interested in him.

I hope so. That would be great. The only other Big I would rather they sign is Sofo. This is our Best off-season ever.

Damn. :(

I can't say I'm not sad to see him go. I wish him the best of luck. He really grew on me last season.

The FO said they are in the process of adding another big man (possibly Elson), so in the next few days we should be hearing something.

It's kind of funny to me how things have changed so quickly. When we responded to the pre-draft/lottery summits, no one had any real faith in the organization to make any real significant changes. 2 months later, I'm pretty confident in them (well at least Dunleavy) to trust their decisions.

lol that's so true. Props to Dunleavy and even Sterling for spending his cash. Elgin has been putting in some crucial nap time too. This has been one of the best off-seasons we've had since... I don't even know. This is the first active off-season I've gone through as a Clipper fan. :o

I hate to see Josh go considering he had a solid year from the last season. Considering the summer success the Clips are having, I'm sure they are doing what's best for the squad to make them better. I would look for Elson or Skinner in the next few days as the next Clipper big man. Best of luck to Josh and hopefully the next team(Orlando) should find him useful on the court.

As long as we bring either Elson or Skinner aboard Mr. Powell will be a distant memory.

It looks like they will sign BRIAN SKINNER. A poster on that forum, Henry Chen, who is a Clipper photographer - http://www.henrychenphoto.com/blog/, broke the news. And considering he broke the news about BDiddy, Camby, Hart, and R. Davis before they all happened, I think this guy is pretty reputable.

I think Skinner is definitely an upgrade over Powell. Yeah he's 32, but a solid vet who blocks shots and rebounds well. He contritubed nicely for Phoenix last season and should do the same for us. Welcome back to Clipper Nation, Brian!

The plane he's riding in to get here would never make it. They would have to throw him off to save the other passengers' lives.

Nice to have Skinner back. I remember the days when he use to play for us. He did pretty well, but always seemed to sprain an ankle.

I'm sad to see Josh go but I guess we are going to sign some one else. I don't mind having Skinner return to our team.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Maybe you will replace Josh Powell with Josh Smith, he can play PF.

Camby for Smith.

Davis/Hart/Taylor
Mobley/Gordon
Thornton/Davis
Camby/Thomas
Kaman/Skinner/Jordan

I like the way that the team is shaping up. We still have 2-3 more spots available so it'll be interesting to see who the last couple of guys will be.

Skinner or Elson, I'm beside myself... four solid moves in a row! My Clippers account rep called last week. Tempted to dance with the devil, again...

I'm gonna miss Powell, but I will feel more comfortable with Skinner on the floor for ten minutes a night. This roster is starting to look pretty serious. Now all we need is another PG (Sam).

Fans on the Suns board seem to be disappointed they couldn't keep Skinner. I didn't watch the Suns or Skinner much last year, but they concensus over there is that Skinner is a very solid player. Makes me feel even better about this signing.
