Steve Novak a Clipper?
The Rockets expect to trim their roster and their bloated collection of forwards on Wednesday by dealing Steve Novak to the Los Angeles Clippers, an individual with knowledge of the deal said Tuesday.
The Rockets will receive future draft considerations, likely the right to switch places with the Clippers in a second round. It is unclear which season that would be because both teams have future second round commitments.
The Rockets selected Novak, 25, in the second round of the 2006 season. A 6-10 forward, Novak averaged 2.7 points in 70 NBA games, making 44.1 percent of his shots and 42.7 percent of his 3-pointers.
The highlight of his two seasons with the Rockets was likely the buzzer-beating 3-pointer he made to defeat the Kings during the Rockets’ 22-game winning streak last season.

Another nice pickup. Finally, a big man who can actually hit 3-pointers *cough* Tim Thomas *cough*

Solid move by the Clips. I'll definitely welcome a pure 3 point shooter. If it's for a future 2nd round swap does Camby take offense?

Hopefully this makes TT expendable in the FOs eyes and we can finally rid ourselves.

you ask for a pure shooter and thats what you get. novak really has no handles, defense or rebounding skills and isnt as sharp when shooting off the dribble but he can guarantee stroking a wide open jumper anytime.
and what us rockets fans love most about him is that he gave us a game winning shot against SAC during the 22 game win streak

i hate to see him leave but our roster was really jam packed full and we need room for a legit back up Center.
im gonna miss novak, he can really be a lights out shooter, not just streaky

how big of a salary does novak have? does this mean we cant sign livingston now?
id like this move but only if we can trade thomas for trash. if we can trade thomas for a 2nd rounder id be happy and then we can get livingston and/or loss with the money we save.

This is the last year on Novak's contract and will be making $797,581...
...and here is my Youtube channel's Novak clips...

Y'all probably just got the purest shooter in the NBA (if you ask me). He won't get all the rebounds and won't lock anyone down, but he'll shoot a solid percentage from three. I will miss him a lot next year.

Best shooter in the NBA imo , I don't think I never seen him miss more than 2 jumpers in a row.
He seriously need to work on his defense though , he is not aggressive enough and he really can't guard anybody , not 3's or 4's.
But if he can improve his defense he is really valuable on the floor because his shooting is amazing.
It's for sure a good trade for you guys imo.

“He didn’t miss?” , “That’s fantastic. That’s tremendous. I wish I could have a day like that. I dream of the day I could go 12-for-12.”-Rafer Alston

Seriously, you can't hate on this deal. He's the type of the guy we can throw in for the game winning shot and feel pretty good about our chances.

Congrats! Novak IS the best pure shooter in the NBA. You will need to line shotblockers up behind him for help defense but he can shoot the hell out the ball. He was one of my favorite Rockets to watch -- pure water w/ the jump shot.

Re: Steve Novak a Clipper?
good deal, since it's basically for nothing. But don't expect much from Novak, he's got lead feet. He couldn't find PT with Yao on the floor to draw in the defenders. Unless you have pure shooters from all corners, the defense will not leave novak open. Because of his lead feet, he's attrocious on defense.

I've found Novak an appealing character since his rookie year when he sang in a 12-Days-of-Christmas send-up form some Rockets tickets promotion. I know almost nothing about his playing, but FO must have had some reason for this move, and I hope Novak can add a positive element. Apparently he's a good guy who gets along well with the other guys around him.
What strikes me now is that we have about 73 guys on the roster, and counting. Every couple of days I wake up and turn my computer on and find that there's another new Clipper.
That's great, and I really like most of these guys for one reason or another --- but are the Clippers going to get an exemption from the league fron the 15-man roster rule or something?
Or have we been driopping people all along the way and I haven't noticed it?
(I noticed Elton Brand and Brevin Knight.)
Seriously, am I miscalculating, or are there too many players currently considered Clippers?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Okay, please ignore my ignorance and the above question --- I just read the Eric Pincus article posted in another thread (thanks, bulldogcharly) and I have got it straight which 10 guys are gone, leaving room for all of these new guys.
It has been pretty hard to keep up with, and it's great to have thatr summary.
Everything is looking very different, and it's looking good.

You can probably add Ross and Livingston to that list as well. Marcus Williams and Mike Taylor are pretty much auditioning in training camp.
