Clippers Sign Free Agent Guard Jason Williams

We've now acquired half of the NBA-level players on the 2007-08 Heat roster. Barring more forthcoming moves, here is the domino effect of this acquisition:

- J-Will and Hart to share 2nd/3rd string PG duties; also means we could be seeing lineups with 2 PGs on the floor this season. Regardless of matchups, this is a logical hedge move by mgmt and a sign that they're not counting on Baron to play all 82 games - good forward thinking as they will need Baron to play in the playoffs.

- Mike Taylor pushed to the D-League - marking the first time that Dunleavy uses the farm system unless he gets cut

- We've seen the last of Shaun in a Clips jersey

More comments to come later...

im happy and sad at the same time. williams is a great addition to the clippers, but this means no more livingston and he was probably my favorite player on the clips during their playoff run. but i guess the clippers saw that he wasnt ready so its all good.

Too bad for J-Hart, great for Clipper Nation! Good to know if Baron goes down for a stretch of games, we have a starting PG in White Chocolate coming off the bench.

I kind of don't get this move. We're pretty stacked at the guard position now. Davis/Williams/Hart/Taylor. Why do we need a 4th PG? I guess Taylor will go back to the D-League? Is Hart worth keeping for 2M as a 3rd stringer?

Hello Clipper Land

I have to admit I though you guys were going to have another bad season after losing Brand but after all of the pickups you guys have made really have me biting my tongue. I think you guys have actually had a good offseason. I think you guys will make some noise when it's time for the playoffs. If you don't make it, well we know the West is loaded. I hope you guys have a good season. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the Grizz. I am thinking the playoffs will be in our future within the next two years. And this time, maybe we will win a post season game.

Not bad a signing. i feel he'll get the minutes here so i am not whining. (Player fan) i wish it was with a contender (say, the Suns) and not an unknown like this team but as i've said, i like the current line-up...

Baron can also slide to the 2-guard for an even faster team, if healthy Jwill can demand around 25-30 minutes! And that will be good news for you!!!

i'm a prostitute of a fan, i go where ever my favorite player goes. Even aging and injury-prone ones.

We're not expecting much from JWill...just give us 10-15 mins and fill in for Boom should he miss a stretch of games. All I know is:

Baron/JWill/Hart >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Knight/Dickau/Smush

he probably won't get that many minutes. id say he gets about 20 mpg. we still have hart who did well for us 2 seasons ago. but i can see jwill having some 30-35 min games if we play a small team because then we'll shift bdiddy to the 2 guard.

I hate to say it but this signing doesn't look good for Livingston returning to the Clippers at all. Hart is probably feeling threatened. I think that the FO is just not comfortable with Taylor being 3rd string. He is non-guaranteed and still may not make the team. That would suck since they could have used that future 2nd to swap in a future trade

Thanks GO GRIZZ. I am really intrigued by the Grizzlies myself. You guys have a great looking future from 1-3 spots. I am really looking forward to getting a glance at Mayo.

i don't have delusions either that he will be seeing normal starter minutes. He will be the primary back-up for Baron and he is a way way better option that a Hart.

This is insane. I never thought the Clippers would have enough money to get a guy like Williams. I'm thrilled right now. Wow.

Man, the Clips are on a roll here. Considering B-Diddy's injury history. The Clips decided not to take any chances and added J-Will to the roster for relief purposes. He should have some game left in the tank despite his history with injuries as well.

We're going all out this summer aren't we? Hate to say it, but I think this is the Elton Brand effect...had he signed, I don't think we would've been so proactive.

Well, J-Dub is not one of my favorite players but hes' got skills. All I know is...this team is going to run A LOT with Baron/Williams at the point. I think Dunelavy will give them more free reign to run the floor. He just has to with this roster.

Is this franchise's image to free agents changing or what? It seems like all of the decent veterans are actually willing to come here now and not asking to break the bank. I'm really liking what I'm seeing. The days of resorting to NBDL players is over! Thank you Baron Davis? :D
