Josh Smith
I really wanted him but I'm sure glad we traded for Camby instead. I have never seen a team match an offer so fast. It looks like they were waiting for a team to guage his value. We would have made an offer for nothing and some other team might have traded for Camby.

I give Mike his props. I have no idea what we were going to actually offer Smith, but Dun was sure that Atlanta wouldn't match. That would be a nice young athletic run-n-gun addition to our other young players but I'm happy with what we have. I'm excited about the season and entering it with optimism. I felt this way when we signed Mobley and traded for Sam. Most people will be doubting us because we're the Clips, but I have high hopes. Only some 80-odd days left. Some people are really misinformed. You don't add Davis, Camby, Gordon, Ricky and so on only losing Maggette and only pick up a few more wins than the previous season. I don't care about the chemistry concerns that doubters are pointing out either. I'll trust a pg rotation of Davis-Williams-Hart over Knight-Dickau-Smush and take any chemistry issue that they may present any day.

The only restricted FA I wish the Clippers would have gone after was Monta Ellis. I would have offered the same contract accepted by Baron Davis to Ellis. I guess the Brand situation was in the way of that kind of move though, since he recommended that they go after Davis in the offseason if he opted out.

By all means, Dunleavy deserves total credit on that transaction. He explained how he approached Denver and informed them of the Teams intent to sign an offer sheet. He was oiving them one last chance. After they took the bait the Team realed them in.

Re: Josh Smith
Everyone here was convinced it was a waste to sign Smith to an offer sheet less than $14 million a year. Memphis went ahead with about $10 million, and we see the results...
