I might give Camby/Thomas for Marion, but leave Gordon out of it.

Yuck.

A likely one year rental is not worth giving up young, talented players to those other 29 teams and that's why the Clippers wouldn't go for it.

First we would need some kind of guarantee that Marion will be here for more than 1 year. Is it possible to sign him to an extension at this point? And at what rate? He's not a $17/yr player, maybe $13 or $14.

To make the deal go through the Clips would have to give up something more than Camby/Thomas (because they're taking on an additional $15mil or so for their extra year.) Is this just worth a #1 pick? I'd hate to give up Gordon. Not sure what Miami will want. What about 2 #1's?

You have to admit that the Clips get the better end of the deal (excluding Gordon).

First of, I believe who ever team is going to trade for Marion, they think the chances of signing him back are high. I think an extesion can de arrange prior to a trade. Second, I doubt a lot of teams have a cap space to sign Marion next year.

Marion was asking $13m per year from the Heat this summer, obviously he is not signed which means Riley's offer is lower than that.

I might give Camby/Thomas for Marion, but leave Gordon out of it.
Nope! Miami will not take Thomas.

Hm, I don't know. If Marion is guaranteed to return after this season....

PG - Davis
SG - Mobley
SF - Thornton
PF - Marion
C - Kaman

That looks like a really fun team on paper. Does this make us a lock for the playoffs? Hm...

I dont blame people if they view Marion as a PF because thats the position D' Antoni use him in Phoenix. Marion is a SF who can play PF, depending on match ups. Another reason why teams like him because of his versatility.

Then you dont need to worrry about his asking price because he ask for $13m per year from the Heat. Check out the Miami Herald if you want to have a link.

I dunno. I still don't like it. I feel like we'd be giving up to much potential (Livingston reference anyone?) for someone whose career is on the decline and not the upswing. I think it makes us even older and...well, frankly, Marion's jumpshot is just too damn ugly to have a place in our side of LA.

This is great to hear, I wasn't aware of that. So what's it going to take to bring Marion in here? Without giving up any of these guys: Kaman, Baron, Gordon, Thornton.

How about:
Camby, Thomas, #1, D. Jordan
or
Camby, Thomas, 2 #1's

I don't see Marcus Camby as being at all enticing to Miami. He's 34 years old, and we're a young team. I don't see how Camby and TT is enough to land Shawn. Going to have to sweeten it...

marion, banks, cook for camby, thomas, mobley
