I think it's very difficult for people from other boards to understand why we feel how we feel, because they really do not personally understand the long-term or short-term history of this through detailed experience. And it's easy for them to think our feelings are not founded on anything, because they haven't followed it day by day the way we have.
So when they are inclined to point the finger at us, or give us advice that is based only on their incomplete information, we just have to receive it courteously and take it all with a lot of very large grains of salt. They're entitled to their opinions, and there is no way we can communicate what the last few years have been like here, or what those two weeks recently were like, and all of the detail that taught us things about Elton Brand that we would much rather never have had to learn.
Of course you move on, and I think everyone on this board is at the very least intrigued with the possibilities of this largely new team. Some of us are even quite excited about the possibilities.
But that doesn't mean you can forget something like the way Elton chose to leave here, or his agent's behavior, and the public statements he has made about it since, some of which were far from the truth as we saw it unfold.
More than enough to earn mass boos, repeated often, in my opinion.
And he truly did earn them --- much as his behaviour in the past earned him the way he was lionized around here for so long.
As for caring about the team --- it's people who care about the team who followed all of this so closely, and who know it so thoroughly.
