Tell us about your trip to Germany working with Chris Kaman before the Summer Olympic Games began.
JoHan Wang: I was fortunate enough to travel to Germany a week before the Olympic Games to work with Chris Kaman and the Men's German National Basketball Team. I met the team in Bamberg, Germany, one week before they departed for Beijing. During the week, the team went through a series of double-days, practicing once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Every night, I would work with Chris rehabilitating his ankle.
The trip was definitely all business! We had very little time to do anything outside of basketball. The week concluded with a tune-up game between Team Germany and the Norwegian National Team.
What is the most unique injury you have treated?
The most unique injury I have ever treated while working with the Clippers is a tibio-femoral dislocation, also known as a dislocated knee. It happened to Shaun Livingston two seasons ago. The rehabilitation process was very long and challenging. Countless hours were spent by multiple individuals getting Shaun ready for athletic participation. Shaun recently participated in 5-on-5 and is very close to his return to NBA action.
How will the new Training Center change how you work with the players on a daily basis?
The Training Center will definitely help with the overall health care our athletes on a daily basis. We will have a state-of-the-art facility for our exclusive use. The athletes will benefit from our new athletic training room, which includes warm and cold whirlpools, an underwater treadmill and a steam room. There is also a weight room loaded with all the latest strength and conditioning equipment. All of this combined with our fantastic staff will help our players stay on the court and win more games.
