In the past, the league was able to witness creative and unique nicknames that represented the player's style of play on and possibly off the court. A few examples are "Magic", "Dr. J", "The Glove", "The Dream", "The Mailman", "Chocolate Thunder", "The Admiral", "The Dunking Dutchman", "Plastic Man", "Reignman", etc. In today's game, you have some nicknames that standout, but most of them are just abbreviations or short names. I think some of our players already have some nice nicknames.

Baron Davis: B-Diddy, Boom Dizzle, BD, The Bodyguard, Too Easy
Paul Davis: P-Diddy
Ricky Davis: Buckets, Get Buckets, Tricky Ricky
Eric Gordon: EJ (Eric Jr.), EG, Air Gordon
Jason Hart: J-Hart
DeAndre Jordan: DJ
Chris Kaman: Kaveman
Cuttino Mobley: Cat
Brian Skinner: Socrates
Tim Thomas: Timmy, TT
Al Thornton: Juice, The Thorn, Big Al
Jason Williams: White Chocolate, J-Will, J-Dub

Baron Davis:
LABD - It's based off his initials, but it'll tie in with some of the others.

Chris Kaman & Marcus Camby:
SWAT Team or Block Party - They're going to put us amongst the league leaders in blocked shots, so it's only fitting.

Eric Gordon:
Commissioner or The Commish (for short) - These are taken straight from Batman and go well with LABD and the SWAT team.
Space Jam - Michael's son in the movie was played by a boy named Eric Gordon. Our Gordon has denied that it was him numerous times, but that would have been damn good nickname for him.

Jason Hart:
The Hitman - I know I wasn't the only one that watched wrestling growing up

Steve Novak:
Sharp Shooter, The Assassin, The Sniper - For his deadly shooting from long range.

Mike Taylor: Mr. T - His full name is Michael Rene Taylor


I can't take credit for LABD, SWAT Team or Block Party. Clipper fans from other boards have come up with those.

Eric Gordon is also known as Air Gordon and Air Jam(it was rumored he was in the movie). I really like the Hitman for Jason Hart.

I like Kaman + Camby = SWAT Team. That's perfect. Somebody on Scout suggested that too.

I added Air Gordon. He was on Ireland & Mason right after he was drafted and they asked him if he was in the movie. He said no, but he seemed to know a lot about the kid lol.

I'm feelin this one! Good call New Era. I also like LABD for Baron and SWAT Team for Camby & Chris. I don't think a nickname will be necessary for Jason Hart, when dude gets in the game we won't have much time to refer to him as anything. And I think we should stick with Juice for Thornton. It really don't get better...although I did like hearing Mikesmith refer to Al as "Dominique Thornton" a couple times.

I like LABD for Baron Davis. The SWAT team for Camby and Kaman is another good one.

One question, how did Brian Skinner get the nickname Socrates?

I am not really sure. I picked it up off of Sham Sports and Wikipedia. Maybe he got it from playing alongside the Big Aristottle.
