Re: R Davis
He will probably split time between SG and SF and play around 20 mpg. He will fit the role Azubuike was signed to fill originally.

Re: R Davis
He'll back up Thornton. The better Eric Gordon is, the less minutes he'll get at the 2.

Re: R Davis
I think his minutes will fluctuate depending on the situation. Initially he'll likely be the first wing off of the bench. I agree with jgustav that Ricky will likely see 20 mpg give or take (at the start of the season).

Dude better just backup CAT @ SG and AL @ SF if need be and keep it moving. No "Ron Artest" or "Stephen Jackson" antics please Ricky D.

Re: R Davis
At this point, it's Al's spot to lose. If for some reason Al is struggling, injured, or Dunleavy feels that Davis would better fit in a certain matchup, then Ricky will likely start in that opportunity.

Re: R Davis
It's more likely if Ricky is to start it would be due to injuries. Soley because he is the best option as a back-up at the 2 and 3 spot (this is taking into account we are not sure what we are going to get out of EG). If Eric shows great strides EG might start if Cat goes down, leaving Ricky as SF back-up starter spot alone.
But like stated before it's Al's job to lose.

Sorry to interject, but do Clips fans really think Eric Gordon will not start from day one? That Mobley will be the starting SG?
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Re: R Davis
Let me say it like this: Gordon will not have a better rookie year than Al Thornton did in all likelyhood, and even he didn't start much in the first half of the season. Cat will be the initial starter, and if E-Go can step up and prove he's worthy of the time, he'll start a couple later on in the season. Injuries, of course, can change that whole scenario.

There's no way Dunleavy is starting a rookie from day 1. He didn't even start Thornton after he started scoring 20ppg. It wasn't until after Tim Thomas got hurt that Thornton got consistent starter's minutes...which explains why his overall stats weren't closer to his averages of the second half of the season. Let's put it this way...Ricky Davis has a better chance of starting the season than Gordon. Gordon's going to have to earn that spot. All this means is that we have a damn deep team.

Re: R Davis
Dunleavy did say that Gordon will likely be in the rotation from day one, but he'll have his work cut out for him. He has even more competition than Thornton did last year, so if he wants to get consistent minutes he's going to have to play solid defense and play smart basketball. I think that him having to earn time will benefit both he and the team. He's used to being the man, so he'll be in new territory, plus he won't like having to sit too long either.

Re: R Davis
Just look at what Dun did with Al. He gave him limited minutes last season, and as he proved he was worthy of being in the rotation, he continued to get more and more minutes. I'd imagine he'd do the same thing with EG, but give him more minutes right off the bat than Al got.
Al is starting at SF, there's no doubt about it. Ricky will be used as the SG/SF tweener backup and get his share of minutes.
