I think we have no trade ideas because everyone sems to be content with the team. As it looks we have the perfect balance in a team. We are ready all we need is the chemistry.

Leaders
B.Davis
C.Mobley
M.Camby

All-Star Caliber Players
B.Davis
M.Camby
C.Kaman

Prospects
A.Thorton
E.Gordon
M.Taylor- I'm hearing and reading this guy can shoot. Would like him to work on his pure PG skills more though. He is only 22.
D.Jordan
P.Davis

Strong Role-Players
R.Davis
J-Will
T.Thomas- He still can be if he wants to be.
S.Novak=clutch
B.Skinner

^well, not so sure. A lot of people have suggested to trade for VC. Just for fun, lets look at it:
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4770010

It would work, salary-wise. How would it mesh though? Lots of fans have pointed out that VC may be injury prone, maybe even a CANCER. Others have said it wouldn't work out with two people needing to have the ball in their hands (B-Diddy is the other, in case you were thinking). Another reason why some are against this is it might "stunt" the growth of Thornton stepping to that next level. Whatever the reason is, I think TheNewEra pretty much nailed the whole deciding factor- chemistry. How will it work out with Mobley and Timmy in this new and hopefully more up-tempo oriented offense? Timmy has showed he can flourish in such a system when he was with the Suns. I think Mobley is the most expendable if we were to trade. I personally like the guy and would NOT trade him because he offers consistency and defense (baring injury), especially against taller defenders like Odom or AK47.

Hmm. I think the only way Clippers make a trade is if EG and Thornton pan out, and we're in the playoff race by All-Star break. If in that situation, I'm all for trading for someone to give us a playoff push. =d

Yeah I'm aware of the VC stuff but felt if we did trade Cat we need a younger better overall verison of Cat. Someone who can defend and bring that consistency.

On a mental level we may need Cat and TT for now for the mindset of Kaman. Kaman was a little skecthy on bringing in some of the players. With Cat and the other returner Kaman at least has an idea of what these guys have the potential to do.

The core factor of chemistry helps Kaman realize that everyone on the team is here for one purpose to win.

Personally, the only trade I'd like to see the Clippers make is to upgrade the frontcourt. For example, trading TT and a 1st round pick or two to acquire a more talented, more consistent third big man. Here are some of my ideas. All the picks would be top 10 protected at least.

CHI Gets: Tim Thomas, 2009 1st Round Pick, Future 2nd Round Pick
LAC Gets: Drew Gooden
Only works at deadline if CHI is out of it and Clips are a playoff team. Gooden is expiring.

CLE Gets: Tim Thomas, 2009 1st Round Pick
LAC Gets: Anderson Varejao, 2009 2nd Round Pick
Cavs might want more offense, Varejao is a great intangibles guy.

GSW Gets: Tim Thomas, Jason Hart*, 2009 1st Round Pick,
LAC Gets: Al Harrington
* Waived and returns to Clippers Works once GSW falls out of contention.

MIA Gets: Tim Thomas*, 2009 1st Round Pick
LAC Gets: Udonis Haslem*
* 2010 Expiring

OKC Gets: Tim Thomas, 2009 1st Round Pick, 2011 1st Round Pick
LAC Gets: Nick Collison, Future 2nd Round Pick
I'm a big Collison fan. He'd be perfect behind Kaman/Camby. He's locked up @ reasonable price 'til 2011.

SAC Gets: Tim Thomas, Jason Hart*, 2009 1st Round Pick, Future 2nd Round Pick
LAC Gets: Mikki Moore, Shelden Williams
*Bought out and retruns to LAC. Williams, Moore and Thomas all are 2010 expirings.

Nothing kills time better than thinking up TT trades.

Have nothing but love for TT but man I'm loving some of those deals.

Main issue is who can score in the low-post once our "Clipper Towers" are resting. We already have low-post defenders in Skinner, plus we need to futher develop D.Jordan on the offensive end and we don't know were P.Davis is after the injury.

Go to deals:

1. Heat- If we could grab Haslem we are in the playoffs no question. We may have to give up three picks to get him though.

2. Cavs- Varejao adds youth to our bench and brings a overall solid low post game.

3. Bulls- It's freaking Drew "Muthaf*****" Gooden why not do it.

A. I don't want to give up Jason Hart. I was sad to see him leave the first time and very happy he's back. He's a solid NBA backup PG.

I like all of these guys:

Varejao (Side Show Bob #1, PHX has the new version)
Gooden
Harrington
Collison
Haslem

I don't like the deal with SAC.

I feel you own the concerns. We need Hart more than we might think for variety.

Somethings that may go bad in adding Hart in the deal:

1.Hart gets upset with the team even if it's planned out and doesn't want to come back.
2.The team we trade hime to may take too long before they waive him.
3.The team doesn't waive him.
4.Team holds him hostage to be spiteful
5.The concept it pretty f***** up to Hart no matter how you spin it. The one guy in the league who loved being a Clipper is trade bait.

Hey, let's not forget that Hart did burn the Clippers last summer to sign with elsewhere. Jason of all people knows that the NBA is a business. Besides, here is the only place in the NBA where fans actually have good memories of Jason Hart. I think he learned that the hard way last season after failing to meet expectations in Utah and losing his job to an undrafted 20 year old. And I can't recall a time when a team was supposed to buy out a player after a trade and then didn't follow through. I'd imagine these details are agreed upon before a trade is made official.

Hart didn't burn the Clippers. That's a bad way to characterize the situation. He's not exactly a lifetime NBA player. He may only have a couple of years at this level and he needs to make what he can. Utah offered him $2.4 mil, the Clips didn't. I can't blame him for leaving.

Not exactly the EB situation where he's already made 10's of millions and the difference in contract is between $75 and $82 mil. EB's a traitor, Hart is not.

Clippers Get
Earl Watson (2010 Expiring, capable backup PG)
Nick Collison (Huge talent upgrade)
Damien Wilkins (Solid defender, 3 point shooter and sure thing at the charity stripe)

Thunder Get:
Cuttino Mobley
Tim Thomas
2009 1st Round Pick Top 5 Protected
Wolves Pick

Davis/Watson/Hart
Davis/Gordon
Thornton/Wilkins
Camby/Collison
Kaman/Skinner

idk if I even like it but whatever

At the moment I've changed my mind on trades.

I'd only give up TT and some picks for a strong back-up PG and a PF who can score off the bench. At the moment I don't have any ideas for trade partners but I'll look into it. Sorry TT now it's all buisness.

Thanks for the Trade Thread, L43 .. expect me to visit regularly.

This trade is a little premature, but I'm thinking down the road here, December 15th, 2009.

Suppose MIN trades Mike Miller and Cardinal for expirings + later this year, and next summer uses cap space to sign Carlos Boozer to a reasonable deal. However, they know Boozer is not a fit next to Al Jefferson, like he would be next to Kaman or Camby. They ask:

"What would the Clippers add to Mobely and Tim Thomas (now expirings), for Carlos Boozer?"

Incidentally, I expect Craig Smith and Ryan Gomes to be available for trade on Dec. 15th, this year.

MIN likes them both, but I question whether we have a long-term role for them. Gomes will start this season, but we have plenty of players that can play PF (Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Craig Smith, ..cardinal, madsen, etc) and SF (Mike Miller, Carney, Corey Brewer if he eats a few cheeseburgers). Craig Smith can use his size, hustle, and tremendous quickness to get his shot off any taller opponent, but he needs a defensive center behind him to make up for his lack of size. MIN doesn't have one.

They are both on very pretty, 2-year deals:

Craig Smith
2008-09: $2.5 mil
2009-10: $2.3 mil

Ryan Gomes
2008-09: $3,650,000
2009-10: $4,017,500
2010-11: $4,385,000 (unguaranteed)
2011-12: $4,752,500 (unguaranteed)
2012-13: $5,120,000

MIN's overall needs (nto necessarily for these guys) is a defensive center, perhaps a PG at that point, moving Cardinal for an expiring (if you're thinking 3-team trade), or I suppose, picks or prospects, though we're kind of over-flowing. Any ideas?

Two guys I'm willing to trade are TT and Paul Davis (don't know why we signed him back in the first place), plus draft picks.

The two guys I'd like to move are Jason Hart and Cat Mobley. Hart may not be able to be traded until mid December though since he was recently acquired.

Consensus Opinion on MIA/LAC trade?

Los Angeles Clippers
Incoming Players
Shawn Marion
Salary: $17,810,000 Years Remaining: 1
Outgoing Players: Cuttino Mobley, Chris Kaman

Miami Heat
Incoming Players
Cuttino Mobley
Salary: $8,925,000 Years Remaining: 2
Chris Kaman
Salary: $9,500,000 Years Remaining: 4
Outgoing Players: Shawn Marion

Maybe add Cook in as sweetener? I know Miami would be all over this due to how needy we are at center. I also know that Marion would benefit greatly from a savvy PG veteran like B-Diddy. Last I know LAC will be needy on the forward end due to the Brand departure. Is it a flat out NO from the fans, or maybe some tweaking is necessary? Or are you on board?

This trade makes some sense. At first I was thinking no because of us trying to get cap space for 2010, but Marion has 1 year left. The problem is if he plays really well and if we want to re-sign him then we wouldn't have as much cap space in 2010 to go after a big free agent.

I'm sure you could resign him for a much more reasonable deal, or have your pick of the litter of free agents if he refuses. The heat were offering him 10 mil a year and he declined. I think a year later, he will think about it twice. Especially if he's comfortable in LA (who wouldn't be?)
