starters
I was looking at yalls rosters and i noticed yall look stacked at some positions and thin on others. Do yall think Camby and Kaman will ever both be on the court at the same time? I dont know much about Kaman, I havent seen him play much. but do you think he is agile enough to play some PF and keep Camby at center (kinda like the old Duncan, Robinson days in SA) or is one of them gonna be coming off the bench. What is the starting 5 most likely gonna be for yall? Good luck this year. Yall have every reason to be excited for the upcoming season.

Re: starters
Kaman and Camby will almost always be on the floor at the same time, but it will be Camby at PF and Kaman at C. Our starting line will almost undoubtedly be:
C Kaman
PF Camby
SF Thornton
SG Mobley
PG B. Davis
C Kaman
PF Camby
SF Thornton
SG Mobley
PG B. Davis

Man thats a bad ass line-up. Awww man. Camby and kaman may easily lead the league in rebounds per game. If Camby can get his offensive skills up, or he plays a lot more offensvively along witht that outstanding defense he has, The Clippers will be in the playoffs and a major threat against the lakers.

They'll both be starters. I think that they'll see quite a bit of floor time together as well, but I assume Dunleavy will often play them seperately to maximize their contributions. Theoretically, they could play something like 20 minutes together and 14 apart, which would reduce the chances that we see a Skinner/Thomas duo on the floor (no offense to Skinner).

Re: starters
There's no chance in hell Kaman or Camby starts on the bench. We may not see them play together all the time because Dunelavy likes matchups too much but the starting lineup is Baron/Mobley/Thornton/Camby/Kaman unless Ricky Davis proves his stuff right off the bat.

Re: starters
wow, thats a stacked 5, yalls bench looks pretty good too. I think Gordon is gonna end up a very good player and of course Thorton will only improve and he will be something special. I agree if Camby starts to get his offense up and not get injured and if Thorton has a break out year, then yall could be better than the Lakers. good luck guys. Yalls GM did a great job this offseason

That's a lot to say we can be better than the Lakers. We have a solid roster 1-8, but the Lakers have the best player in the game and a solid core around him.
No Maggette and less TT also helps a little.

I would say that Dunleavy did most of the work. We all know Elgin Baylor likes to go to sleep around 4 PM.
We did have a better all around team than the Lakers a few years ago. It is hard to say right now that we are a better team when they do have the best player in basketball and Kobe always seems to go off on us every time we play. He probably wants to make sure that we won't beat him. I'm looking forward to this season and I really love the team that we have now. I like Gordon and R Davis coming off the bench, we'll have a lot of fire power from the 2nd unit.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Re: starters
Mobey is a great glue guy. He does a little bit of everything. Aside from shooting the 3, he can post up other guards, create for others at times, provide solid defense and is a good locker room guy. He should be seeing less and less minutes if E. Gordon pans out but is still a key part of the team. His contract is obviously bloated but it'll come off the books just in time for the 2010 off-season.

Who's your number 1 team then?
100% co-sign everything GuyverX stated.
Mobley may not be an elite SG but his overall game can only be touched by few. The leadership vaule we get from him including B.Diddy and M.Camby will help the younger half of our roster. During all the early signing we tried to shop him but it may be for the best to keep him and see what he can do. An motivated Cat is a deadly Cat, could turn into our personal Ray Allen (with better defense). If that happens OMG we would be sick.
TT is still questionable though I've see some interesting trade ideas for him. It's not that TT is useless (he can be effective in his role) it's that we need him to do more since we have to carbon copy players in Novak and TT. We need TT to step up his game and rebound, defend, post-up on offense, and take strong smart shots. With Novak seeming to be the better sharpshooter we need TT to step up and spread his skills inside the paint.

Re: starters
Mobley has been one of the Clips players that I have respected most since he's been here. $9M may be a bit much, but I think that he's great to have on the team. He's been a team captain, willing to be a real man and come off the bench, and he plays through the pain. He started off last season on fire, but he was struggling through nagging abductor/elbow bursitis injuries and was never able to recuperate. He didn't complain, he came to play. Guyver and NewEra have done a great job in highlighting the tangibles/intangibles that he brings to the team.
With such a huge change in the roster, I believe that his role is going to be very important on the team and in building chemistry this season. He's going to be somewhat of the mediator between the vets (Camby, Skinner, Davis, etc.) and the younger less-seasoned guys (Thornton, Gordon & Kaman). He and Kaman are the only holdovers from 05-06. So I think he's going to have to keep Chris grounded as well, since the player that once called him his brother is gone.
I think that less minutes are going to allow him to be more effective on the flow for the long haul of the season. He is a great player for Gordon to learn from since Mobley has a balanced game. Gordon has shown that he has the tools to potentially be a pretty good defender in this league. Hopefully Mobley rubs off on him and he's willing to commit the same effort on both ends of the floor.
