Marbury Could End Up With Clippers? - Wiretap

Stephon Marbury, who could wind up in Miami, Boston, San Antonio or the Clippers, said he has no desire to work out a buyout with the Knicks.

"There wouldn't be no negotiation," Marbury said. "They're going to give me all my money. ... If they want to waive me and give me all my money, fine. If not, I'll try to help this organization win the championship. They told me to come to camp in the best shape of my life and I did that. But I don't want to be in a place I'm not wanted."

It seems that Marbury has been put on waivers, and being that there are no teams with $17 million in cap space to claim him, the Knicks obviously have the intentions of buying out Marbury's contract. Having to pay Marbury all of his remaining money isn't something that would keep the Knicks from buying him out if that's what they want him to do.

Assuming Marbury's contract is bought out, I'd like to know how the writer of this article got the notion that the Clippers would be in the hunt for Stephon Marbury. I appreciate Dunleavy's aggressiveness if it's true that the Clippers have inquired about Marbury, but I don't see Marbury picking the Clippers over Boston, San Antonio and Miami, especially with the amount of competition he would face with the Clippers. He would be fighting for minutes with Boom, J-Will, EJ, Cat and Jason Hart at both guard positions.

I was pretty surprised to see the Clippers named as a possible suitor for Starbury. However, Dunleavy and Marbury are both Brooklyn natives and have both been in the league for awhile. It wouldn't surprsie me if the two have known each other for awhile. And Dun did diss Isiah pretty bad last year, I'm sure Marbury got a kick out of that. I doubt Marbury would choose the Clips but does anybody have an opinion on this?

I was surprised to see our name in the hat as well if he is bought-out/waived. Marbury is a talented player, but comes with a ton of baggage. I think it would be in his best interests to be in a more stable environment. We already have a few guys that have caused some trouble in the past, and adding another headstrong player into the mix is probably not the best idea. The other 3 teams have either the players, coaches, or organizational leaders that would be better suited to bring in a player like Marbury. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him end up in Boston or Miami.

Hell no. How can they mention the Clippers in this article? We have no use for Starbury. He will be riding the pine like Stevie Franchise in Houston, even worse. Totally baseless rumor.

We're set at the point with Baron/J-Dub/Hart. We really need more depth at off-guard and maybe another big. I actually think Marbury has tons of value for the price he will be fetching (which is very low once the Knicks get rid of him on their own dime) but we don't really need him and his craziness. We already have a few arguable headcases on this team as is.

I like Starbury, but we have no use for him. It is surprising to see our names mentioned though. I wish this was brought up before some of our transactions cause I would love to see him play for us. I don't think he's as bad as people make him out to be. NYK was full of drama no matter what he did. Isiah screwed that franchise over good for quite some time.

I have no problem with Marbs as said before the bad relationship with Thomas hurt his reputation worse than it already was.

This is one scenario I can see that would work in getting Marbs.

1. Waive Mike Taylor, Sign Marbs and move Cat to the bench and push EG to the reserve.

PG. B-Diddy/J-Will/J-Hart
SG. S.Marbs/C.Mobley/EG
SF. A.Thorton/R.Davis/S.Novak
PF. M.Camby/T.Thomas
C. C.Kaman/B.Skinner/P.Davis/D.J.

Reserves Novak, P.Davis, and DJ

This is all highly unlikely though as EG would really struggle to get mintues. If Marbs was still on the table mid-season and EG was struggling horribly and we are still in the playoff hunt I'd say go for it.

Overall though I'm lovin our team as it is.

I can't remember if I ever brought up the idea of Marbury coming to the Clippers. I knew that he had a bad relationship with the Knicks and I was thinking if he was waived he could come to our team. But we are set point for now so we really wouldn't need him. Like NewEra mentioned we could waived Taylor but it's not necessary for us to sign Marbury. If we still had problems at point then I would be all for signing him.

My cousin is a big Marbury fan and he mentioned that Marbury loves LA and has a home out there some where. But I'm sure he'd choose some other team over us.

I wouldn't mind Marubry on this team. He could fit in well behind B-Diddy where he has a reserved role to come and not exactly produce off the dribble every single second he's on the floor. Too bad we already signed J-Will.

I think Starbury should go to Miami. He could battle for a starting spot right off the bat there.

^^^Miami would be a place to start for Marbs if he wants to avoid a long list of PGs' to go through for minutes on the court.

Marbury has been working out in LA all summer, his weight is down to 200. They need to take a chance on him, Jason Hart isn't a solid #2 PG.
