Clippers Star has date with Jenny Craig

According to People.com, via Dime, new Clippers guard Baron Davis is following in the (quiter, lighter) footsteps of good friend Queen Latifah by joining the Jenny Craig Program to shed a little off-season Mexican food.
"In the off-season, it's kind of hard to maintain day-to-day," [Baron] says. "I don't want to get up and cook. And when I pig out, I'm the type of person where there's no limit to what I can do." His favorite pig-out food? "Definitely Mexican," he says. "I go to Pinches Tacos in L.A., start with a carne asada burrito, and work my way down the menu."
Boom Dizzle says he won't reveal how much weight he's lost thanks to Jenny's nutritional meals until a press conference in L.A. on Friday, but if he's stuck to the program as religiously as I did, then he's probably shed one or two pounds per week. I'm going to mark him down at 210 pounds, and grab a shake.

Jenny Craig doesn't seem like the kind of thing Baron would openly admit to, but he is a character so nothing he says surprises me. I don't care what he does aslong as he's in shape for camp. Thanks for the link MK.

I'm surprised I've never seen him at Pinches Tacos...that's the spot! I didn't even know Boom was lookin' to lose any weight either. I guess it can't hurt...it's less weight for his joints to handle, but that didn't do SL14 any good.

A lighter Baron is a healthier Baron. If you remember how he was before with the Hornets, he was bigger and more injury prone. Only Baron would admit to going to Jenny Craig though.

Added points from the People article:
"Despite some initial ribbing from friends when he signed up for the plan, Davis says he's inspired some of them to join, too.
"They were like, 'Huh? Why is Jenny Craig in your fridge? Why are you eating this?' But then I'd be at a friend's house and have my weekly check-in call, and they saw how serious I was about it and it helped."
And Jenny's not just for women, he says: "Men should take a page out of a woman's book – because they're a lot smarter than we are!"
Davis even made best friend and producing partner Cash Warren – husband of Jessica Alba and father to 3-month-old daughter, Honor – try a Jenny Craig meal. "Cash came over once and I 'cooked' for him. I put a meal on a nice plate. I looked like a gourmet chef!" he jokes. "But Cash knows I can't cook like that."
While he won't reveal how much weight he's lost on Jenny Craig until a press conference in L.A. on Friday, Davis says he feels "great" and has "a lot more energy."
He starts practicing with the Clippers this week."

If it is working for him I would enjoy the whole Clipper squad trying to be in top shape for the season.
If it lowers the risk of injury give a double dose to the starters

You can't get any good Mexican food here in Pennsylvania. That's why I made sure that I ate plenty of it during the summer. When does training camp start?

^ I think training camp starts the first week of October.
But you know, I heard about there being no legit Mexican food on the east coast, like the closest yall have to the real thing is Taco Bell or something. It was a good plan to stock up while you were at home...and won't being away from it make you appreciate it more later? Distance makes the heart grow fonder, you know...

I don't get it, the guy makes like 15 million a year, and has been making big money for several years now, can't he just hire a good professional chef to cook for him? I mean honestly, how good can the food from Jenny Craig taste?
I was also reading about the Jenny Craig plan at this site:
http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguide ... jennycraigI noticed they mention that you only get an average of 8 grams of fiber a day! That's very little. The recommended about is about 30 grams, which admittedly is hard to get in a day, but how does a "diet" really provide this little? A cup of Frosted Mini Wheat has 6 grams, and honestly I think a cup is BS, my portion of cereal is more like 2 cups. So how can a human serving of cereal contain more fiber than a day's worth of food in a diet plan?
Just in case one of you don't understand the importance of fiber, well for one you wont go every day, and then there are potential problems, including a worse case scenario: cancer.

Just got back from Baron Davis' press conference this morning where the Clippers newest leading man announced that he'd lost 19 pounds doing the Jenny Craig diet over the last six weeks.
Davis said he tried Jenny Craig because he always tends to put on some weight in the offseason and really wanted to come into camp this year in the best possible shape.
``I want to be quick,'' he said. ``Just based on the way I think we're going to play this year, I wanted to be as trim and quick as I can.''
I'll have more details later, as well as information on which member of the Clippers Davis will be doing his hardest Jenny Craig sell on...
Ramona Shelbourne,

19lbs eh...?

Looks skinny, but maybe it's the lack of a full beard.
