our present point guard situation
hey fellow clipper fans. well, i dont know about you guys, but ever since i heard the news of jason williams retiring i've been rather skeptical of the clippers death at point guard. yes, we have baron davis but the only other pg we have on the roster with nba experience is jason hart. im not saying jason hart's a bad backup but with baron davis' injury history im more comfortable having two quality PGs backing him up. and does anybody know anything about this mike taylor guy? are we not pursuing another point because dunleavy believes he can capably play some minutes there?

Re: our present point guard situation
At this point, if the season started and we were stuck with what he have at point guard, I wouldn't be too worried. I also think having another good backup behind Davis would be helpful, but I think when Hart used to play with us and got significant playing time, he was a solid backup. He's not going to get us many points, but might get us a three here and there, and maybe some layups. I'd be more concerned about whether he is good at facilitating the offense, which I think he did a decent job. I really don't know about Taylor, so I can't comment on him.
If absolutely necessary, we could have Gordon handle some of the pg duties, and maybe even Mobley. And it also depends on Davis' health too. We might be lucky and get a full season out of him. If not, we might be in trouble. And I don't know what's going on with the Marbury situation, he might still be a target of front office. If it were me though, I'd keep it the way it is, I'd like to see Hart get some playing time.

As of right now Dunleavy is very happy with Mike Taylor at the 3rd option at PG. Remember Eric Gordon can get some minutes. Gordon is a flash player, which may actually hurt that position. I was in Vegas for summer league and he is definitely a shoot 1st pass 2nd kind of player. There have been some decent NBDL players come up in the league. Mike Taylor must be pretty good if he his the 1st player to ever be drafted out of the league. He averaged 15 at PG. It is going to be interesting.
Minutes:
Baron Davis – 37
Jason Hart – 12 (some at SG)
Mike Taylor – 5 (if that)

Don't forget, J-Will was a last minute offseason addition. Most of us were ready to call it a "successful offseason" prior to signing him. Although I would love to have him on the team, I take this as an opportunity for J-Hart to be a valuable contributor rather than ride the pine like he did in Utah. Also, this gives Mike Taylor a great chance of making the team and showing everyone how good he can be.
I agree with playaloc, Gordon might see some time at PG as well. He played some point in high school, so for the small spurts where he is absolutely needed to man the position, I think he should be able to do it.

I'm a little worried, as well.. With Baron/J-Will/Hart, that was going to be a solid PG rotation, but with Baron/Hart/Taylor, I'm a little worried considering how important that position is..
If Mobley ends up playing ANY minutes at PG, we're in trouble.

Ba can play 30 mins but he is for sure going to miss about 10-15 games.
So I guess Jason Hart is up for the job.
