Kornheiser and Wilbon talked about this on PTI today too. Man, I don't know how this "disconnect" came about...Dunleavy knew what he was getting into when he signed Baron! And I'm taking sides with Baron in this one, as I'm sure may of us will. Dunleavy's offensive plays are crap. Baron's the kind of PG who will only flourish if he runs the show. Sit down Dun, and LET THEM PLAY!

That's what baron gets for not knowing anything about the team or coach when he signed immediately with clippers

Clips Make PTI

Post#4 » by NYCF » Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:20 pm

Wilbon and Kornheiser discussed this on today's show.

I know a number of posters were concerned about Baron and (I wish he was) Doneleavy butting heads at some point this season (but 7 games into the season, give me a break). Needless to say, this does not bode well.

Sorry, didn't realize someone had already started a thread about this. It's been a long day.

I didn't catch PTI (haven't had the opportunity in awhile), but I did read Plaschke's article. Coming into this union, their styles clashing was a noticeable concern. This is like the new Odd Couple. I think if they're able to compromise, they could both benefit. Dunleavy has to give Davis the benefit of the doubt more often than not and allow him to work his "magic." At the same time, Davis could be a bit more efficient and work for higher percentage shots rather than the quick 3. The fact of the matter is, this is the best point guard that this franchise has ever had and that Dunleavy has coached since #32. Dunleavy raved at Davis' track record in this league, and he needs to give him that free reign that he works so well under. They still have a relationship that needs to be established, so It's not a shock for them to bump heads early on given their roles to this team. Give to get, Mike.

All he needed to know is that they were committed to winning and they were in L.A. All the other stuff can be worked out later...which they are now in the process of doing 7 games into the season.

They both know they need to find middle ground. It was obvious before the season even began so this is nothing new.

Chris Kaman
It's going to be a flex issue," Kaman said. "Sometimes Baron is going to have to run Mike's plays, but sometimes Mike is going to have to let Baron do his own thing.

This is key, as I had said before the season started both Dunleavy and Baron will have to adjust to each other. Surprisingly Chris Kaman said it best in this article.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Why does this negativity come up after our first victory? I think Baron is doing fine offensively, and giving us that much needed leadership and clutch scoring.

I'm not going to side with either one, but I do think the offense seems too complicated for some of our players. I think Al could flourish with his atheletic ability in the open court.

Hope this doesn't turn into a big issue, I'm sure Dunleavy has coached more difficult teams and players (i.e, the jailblazers).

He has pieced together quotes from preseason and more current quotes. The quotes are placed out of context. Some of the quotes are very misleading to make more of a story. Plaschke has always been negative regarding the Clippers

How do we not have the roster for that? We've got athletes, guys who would thrive in D'antoni or Nellie's system. It's Dumbleavy's garbage system that they rot in.
