Dude has balls to say that, hopefully he lives up to the hype.

Well, I must say, his opinion of himself is exactly what I had been led to believe it would be.
Now we had just better wait and see whether we can believe his assessment of his skills and abilities, or the fact that he couldn't even regularly crack the Knicks rotation for the past year and a half.
Let's hope he's right about this.

Offensively I guess they are about the same.

But defensively, Brand is much much better.

I'd give the edge offensively to Randolph, but Brand obviously does provide better low-post defense.

Overall, their stats / production should be similar with Randolph giving up a little bit defensively. However, in respect to discipline on the court, I don't ever recall Brand ever doing something like this:

OK, Zach Randolph is no way shape or form better than Elton Brand. I wouldn't take him over Leon Powe. Elton Brand is easily the superior player in every facet of the game.

Brand is better than Randolph is on offense and defense. Randolph can score but isn't very efficient, he has never shot over 50% from the field in a season where he has averaged over 20 ppg. The players aren't close on the defensive end and in shot blocking ability.

That's all absolutely true.
Also, Randolph doesn't nearly match up in basketball IQ or in judgment/decision-making.
But we needn't tie ourselves in knots arguing logically here --- it was the man's very impressive ego speaking, after all, in declaring: "He ain't better than me." It speaks to the size of the ego rather then to anything factual about the comparison between players.
And this from a guy whose last team was (like our team) paying him $17 million a year, and even so had him coming off the bench behind Wilson Chandler.

For all this "Brand" love you guys have, you went to the playoffs with him just ONE TIME and that was with Cassell taking charge of the team. Brand has recently been hit with injuries so be happy you dodged the additional 3 years his contract would have cost you.

Lastly do look at Portland's and your record from 2004 to 2007... not much difference in wins from what Randolph did vs. what Brand did. And, for most of those years LAC had the better talent around Brand.

No biases whatsoever here. Even if Brand has lost some of his game, I'd take him over Randolph any day. Randolph doesn't understand the concept of team ball, is fat, can't play defense and thinks he's an all-star. He will motivate an opponent before a teammate. The type of player you don't respect and would rather play against than with, for sure.

LA Clippers didn't give up anything in Mobley/Thomas, but Randolph is not someone [you] hand millions of dollars to so he can be who he is. I respect Brand. I don't have any respect for Randolph.

As for "Brand love" you''ll get none of that from me since the way he betrayed the team, his teammates and his fans in LA. That is, specifically the way it was done, more than the fact that it was done. It says something unfortunate about the man's character that he was capable of that.
At the same time, I am the last person who would be promoting Randolph's character, and I'm certainly not putting that above Brand's either.
But if we are comparing Randolph and Brand in their impact on the game, it's more a matter of facing facts than any kind of love.

Randolph better win some games before he talks too much.

Last year, Randolph played in 69 games for the Knicks. He started 68 times. This season, he played 11 games for the Knicks. He started 11 times.
