Getting to know Eric Gordon
Clippers.com: What is your favorite moment in NBA history?
Eric Gordon: Well, because I’m from Indiana, I’d have to say when the Pacers were playing the Chicago Bull in the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals, and Reggie Miller hit that game winning shot over Michael Jordan during game three.
Would you say that you model your play after Jordan’s then?
EG: Well, not too much actually. I would say I most model my game more after guards like Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards) and Chauncey Billups (Denver Nuggets).
What did you think of the Training Center when you first arrived in LA?
EG: The Clippers’ Training Center is really nice. I went to a lot of different facilities before the draft when I was working out with different teams, and the Clippers’ facility is definitely the best one I’ve seen.
We know you go by EJ, but do you have any other nicknames that have stuck with you growing up?
EG: Well, yeah, a lot people call me EJ because my dad is also named Eric, but this team likes to call me The Hobbit. Iit’s funny, but they say it’s because Hobbits are supposed to have natural powers or something. Other than that, people like to call me E-money of EG.
We talked to Zach Randolph a few weeks ago, and he said that even though he was never named to it, he’s Indiana's real Mr. Basketball. What do you think about that?
EG: Oh man. Well, even though I was actually named Mr. Basketball, he did take Marion High School to the Indiana State Championship and won! I think Jared Jefferies was named Mr. Basketball that year, but Zach definitely deserved it after what he did. I guess we’ll say we technically share the title.
