HTV: What did you take from your experiences in AAU and High School?
AL: You may not always be in control of the ball, but you're always in control of how hard you work.
HTV: I heard that your mentor in your rookie year in LA was Sam Cassell. Is that an accurate description of your relationship with him?
AL: Sam's my dude man. He's a Florida State alum and he looked out for me. Mostly just in terms of direction, because LA is a whirlwind and he took care of me more in that aspect.
HTV: Are you still close?
AL: Yeah we're still close. I talk to him every now and then and he just got a ring. I think he's like 50, but (Laughs) yeah we keep in touch. That's my guy.
HTV: How happy were you for him and the kind of player he is to finally win an NBA championship?
AL: I was very excited. Sam still can play with the young guys and he's a legend in my eyes.
