Hey Fishy, I was just trying to figure how to throw together a quick game thread, but let's use this one.
Did you hear the phone interview Ralph and Mike did with Zach? It was kind of interesting.
He said he isn't ready to run on the floor yet, but hopes to be doing some exercises on the court by the end of next week. It seems that the injured guys all see each other at the training centre when they are getting their various treatments.
He and Ralph agreed that this is a surprisingly strong team, and that this will show later in the season.
"When all the guys are back from injuries, we're going to shock some people," is the way Zach put it.
He said he was finding it really tough not to be out there playing, but watching the team struggle from his spot in front of the TV.
My son said yes, how tough for Zach sitting in LA with a Cuban cigar and a bowl of Doritos watching the team go down in flames in New Orleans.
But he was extremely cordial and open to whatever questions Ralph & Mike threw at him, agreeing genially with pretty well everything they said.

Nah I haven't been able to watch the game. I can't find any streams at the moment so I'm just looking at the yahoo box score.

Interesting conversation though. Even with all that talent I think our team will still heavily rely on Baron. He IS the one that's suppose to lead us afterall, and in previous years we were never able to take that next step without a good PG leading the way.

7:53 to go in the 2nd quarter and we're down 29-45. Marty seems to be playing decent again for us.

Yeah, Mardy is looking good, and once again EJ is playing with spirit and calm --- surely doesn't look like a rookie out there.
Camby's doing a great job as usual, but when he got a foul on him a couple of minutes ago, he looked really weary. I feel sorry for these guys --- there are just too few of them carrying the load in a really tough schedule.

So we're only down 13 at the half, and our guys have been shooting over 56 per cent, according to what Ralph said as they were walking off the floor, including sinking 5 out of 7 threes.
Trouble is, the Hornets are shooting very well, too.
But the Clippers are aquitting themselves nobly, given their circumstances.
I'll bet they will be relieved to get home for the next game.
(This seems incredibly ironic to me --- all season everyone else has been able to watch the games, while I've had to follow the text on yahoo sports. Last night and tonight, because of this promotional rate I've got for NBA league pass for four months, I've been able to watch the games and it seems that no one in LA can. I hope there are some games soon that we can all watch --- that would be much better.)

lol. That is kinda funny. Seems like we're doing an okay job overall on defense. It's just Butler and Posey that are shooting well.

Paul, West, and Peja a combined 6-18 from the floor.

Butler and Posey 9-13 from the field. 5-8 from 3.

I don't like him much. I remember the Hornets winning a game against us, and he jacks up a 3 at the buzzer just to pad his stats or whatever. Total disrespect. :nonono:

Edit - Posey with 3.

Buter+Posey = 9/12 from 3.

End of the 3rd and we're down by 20. Hornets 87, Clippers 67.
I can't believe we're getting killed by James Posey. aargh.
I just remembered something else Zach said in the interview --- he said that for the rest of this season when people come back from their injuries, the Clippers will be working hard on team chemistry and on automatically sensing each other's styles of play during a game. He said that once they have that down, with the talent they have on the team, they should have a really good year next season.

I wonder what happened to SD2042. He signed up to do the game thread. I hope he's okay out there somewhere. Get well wishes, SD2042.

I noticed that, too.
Anyone would be exhausted being put through what these guys have been through recently.
I wish Zach had made it sound as if anyone were ready to come back into play. I don't know how much more this lot can take.
We certainly don't want to drive them into the ground until there are more injuries.

Well.. I'd like to know why our starters are still in with 6 mins to go and we're down 20. DeAndre has only played 4 minutes and Hart has only played 3. Are either of them injured? Would be nice to give some of them a rest...

yes and it sucks this occurred in the middle of the toughest part of the schedule in my opinion...

is ricky davis going to be playing once the 5 games are done?

I really have a good feeling that the bench will play much better once we get our starters finally playing together!

So, Hornets beat the Clippers 107-80.
Basically it was their bench that wiped up the floor with us.
I've got no complaints at how our guys played. Just the fact that they were still standing by the end of the game was amazing to me after what they've been through.
I agree with Fishy that the starters should have rested in the 4th --- it was obvious that we weren't going to sweep in and take over the game. Why make these guys any more drained and exhausted than they already are?
Of course, that gets us back to the eternal question about coaching with any kind of good judgment. No use looking for any joy there.

P.S. I think we did pretty well with our makeshift game thread. Everyone who wanted one seemed to have found it.

I was busy and couldn't catch the game live, although I was able to glance at the boxscore a few times. I did catch some of the replay, but it was hard to get into after knowing we got whooped by 27. Apparently Zach will be close to a return by the end of next week, Baron maybe a week or so after that. Kaman's return is still up in the air.

I'm not certain, but I think Davis' suspension began against Detroit. If that's the case then he has 1 more game to sit out. He was supposed to be activated to serve the suspension when he became healthy enough to play, so I'd assume he'll be ready to play Wednesday or Saturday (depending on when the suspension actually started). I was hard on his performance early on, but more than willing to change my tune if he can turn it around (although I still hope he opts out at the end of the season  ).

another L but our bench still played hard with all our main guns M.I.A. I expect them to continue their gritty play once we're close to 95% again.
