Clippers (10-36) vs. Wizards (9-37)

Post#1 » by cinnamon » Sat Jan 31, 2009 6:12 pm

(sorry I don't know how to do pictures --- anyone who wants them and has those skills, feel free to add them in a post below)

Teams: Los Angeles Clippers (10-36) @ Washington Wizards (9-37)

Verizon Center, Washington D.C.

Saturday, January 31, 2009 5 p.m. PST

media: KTLA the CW, CW50

Clippers probable starters:
Al Thornton
Brian Skinner
DeAndre Jordan
Eric Gordon
Fred Jones

Wizards probable starters:
Dominic McGuire
Antawn Jamison
Darius Songaila
Caron Butler
Mike James

Of note: One of the teams will be glad to break their streak tonight: the Wizards have lost their last five games, and the Clippers their last four.
We have the advantage of having thanumba2clippersfan cheering our guys on from his seat in the Verizon Centre. Let's hope he's a good luck charm.

Thanks cinnamon, I'll do my best
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

D-Mac didn't do much in the last meeting, but in his first game against he had about 7 offensive rebounds and was a big help in Washington pulling out the victory last season. If Camby were 100% I don't think we'd have a problem on the boards, but his minutes will likely continue to be monitored. Hopefully DJ will be a bit more effective tonight going up against a smaller front court.

Attack the boards is a key in this game for the Clippers. Exploit the Wizards in the post and do some damage.

This is one of the ones I can watch, too --- and timed so can watch from beginning to end.
It should be one of the true winnable games this year for our guys, so I hope the basketball gods will be smiling on us.

Unlike most of you, this one, I cannot watch. It's a shame because I love these battles between 9 and 10 win teams. Really, no sarcasm. For what it is, it's competitive basketball. I'm a fan. Hopefully I can catch some of the stream online...go Clips!

Skinner has 6 of our 8 points and heads to the bench with 2 early fouls.

Clips trail 11-13 with 4:51 to go in the first. We had an 8-3 lead before Washington went on a 8-0 run with us turning the ball over 5 times out of 8 possessions.

I'm so thrilled to have Marcus Camby starting, and looking so good out there --- tons of rebounds already --- and also that I am getting the Ralph/Mike version of the game. What a treat.
Sadly, the Clippers look a little like a Keystone Kops movie in stretches so far, but I fully expect that they'll pull it together and do well tonight.

Nice tenacious effort by Gordon to score on our first possession of the 2nd quarter. He missed his first 2 but kept fighting for the rebound and finally put it in the hoop. Next play down the court he drains a 3.

Thank goodness for all these threes the Clippers have made --- otherwise the 12 turnovers they've committed so far would have killed us.

Nick Young only has 6 points, but it seems like more. 3:05 left in the first half and the Clippers are behind 43-46.

Skinner with his best Randolph impersonation tonight. He has 10 on 5 of 7 shooting.

I love that we've been hitting our 3's lately. We've had 40+ in the last 5 games and are shooting over 41% or something like that.

Turnovers have definitely been our Achilles heel tonight. As I type this we pick up our 14th.
