Would you do this?

Michael (Bismarck, ND): What are you expecting to see from the Dallas Mavericks in the next 16 days?

SportsNation Chad Ford: I like Chris Broussard's suggestion that they consider possibly trying to use Jason Kidd's expiring contract in a package. I think the Clippers would be crazy not to consider a Kidd for Baron Davis and Marcus Camby deal. The addition of both of those guys really makes the Mavs a legit NBA title contender and the Clippers could begin rebuilding around around Eric Gordon, Al Thornton, Zach Randolph, Chris Kaman and a very high lottery pick in 2009. And the team would have $23 million in cap room. It's a deal that makes sense to me for both teams.

No. I would not consider this seriously at all.
I'd like to see us keep Camby on the team for as long as possible --- he contributes so much, in so many ways.
Baron is very talented, but is playing in the wrong situation for his style right now. Trading him to a team where he could be more effective, for someone as good who would fit in better with the Clippers style, makes sense. That's all.

^I hear you on Camby and he sounds like he's being a great mentor for the young players... but this trade would be a no-brainer because of the need to dump Baron.

I would then agree to a buyout so Kidd could go elsewhere for a playoff push. Or, I would see which team would give up a 2010 expiring with a late First or Second Rounder for him.

Gotta get rid of Baron!

Well, I understand that you consider it a no brainer.
Personally, I still simply consider it a no.

Okay-- Baron has fallen pitifully short of his duties this season, but in no way does that justify trading the most talented PG this franchise has ever seen for a walking corpse! J-Kidd is what, Sam Cassell age, which puts him about about 83 or so...so Baron for Kidd straight up would be a "no" from me, and now people wanna throw Camby in? That makes it a HELL no on my part.

"Most talented PG this franchise has ever seen". You have got to be kidding. All kidding aside, I'd take Rick Brunson over this garbage. At least Brunson put forth a professional effort. Barren should be ashamed of himself, his effort and attitude are atrocious. I'd let him go for nothing (if you could find any takers, which I seriously doubt).

He was the most talented PG this franchise has ever seen, now he is a walking corpse as well.

So I guess the big question of the day is, is losing Camby worth Kidd's shorter contract?

I say no, I'd still rather trade Baron somewhere else. Camby is better than both of them for the Clippers.

Dammit I still believe this team is going to be really competitive next year! (if we make the right moves.)

Um, no, not kidding. I never said I was a fan of the way he has played this year, but he is the most talented PG we've ever had here. I never said that talent equaled effort. I'm not ready to throw dude under the bus because he's been **** for half of the season. He's still Baron Davis. Yall are just too quick to dump on him-- typical fair weather sports fans.
