Some guy on the Warriors board said ESPN reported the Warriors rejected the Clips' offer:

Don't know how true it is, but we're hella desperate to want Maggs back.

I saw this same thing on SportsCenter. Bucher said straight up, the Clippers tried a Baron/Maggs swap and got declined, then tried a Baron/Kaman for J.Kidd but that didn't go through. I don't know how close these deals were to actually happening, but Ric made it sound like Clippers were willing and waiting for the word from other teams.

I didn't know we were so desperate to get rid of Baron. If we would have gotten Kidd maybe it would have been for future cap space, when ever his contract expires.

I don't consider trading for Kidd a salary dump, since Kidd can still play (if not as good as before) and he is a dedicated #1. He's not going to carry a team, but if we draft well then adding Kidd at PG could make a nice difference on the team.

I don't want Maggette back, we don't need that type of player right now IMO.

Kidd is an expiring and i doubt that he'd be longer with us then the end of the season. I even believe, that he'd ask to be bought out, so he can join a contenter this season.

And yeah, i'm not sure why we should get Maggette back.

I use to like Corey when he was here, but please no. Not with that contract, and not after what he said about LA fans. I wouldn't mind Kidd though. We'd be in a pretty good spot if we got his expiring.

Gotcha, I thought he still had another year after this.

Then it makes no sense at all to have to trade Kaman AND Baron for Kidd, unless Sterling was doing it PURELY for monetary reasons.

Ric Buchard said Cuban declince because of BD's and Kaman's long term contracts.

I think that's the only reason, you'd offer both Baron and Kaman(who both haven't been bright spots this year) to anyone. I mean, with the way they've played(or didn't play) this season, their trade values are very much non existing and you should never trade, when their value is down, unless you just want to get rid of their contracts.

Also, if Kidd had still another year left on his contract, i doubt that there'd be any rumors about him, maybe, being available.

I don't know, I think a little hair of the dog that bit you might help Dallas here (referring to of course that awesome series with GS.)

Assuming Kaman will come back at full strength (and I haven't heard otherwise), Baron Davis AND Chris Kaman for Jason Kidd is a pretty damn good deal. I say this because the Jason Kidd Experiment in Dallas has clearly failed, the team is now further away from competing in the West than a couple of years ago. Kidd is not making a difference on that team.

Kidd is expiring for them, sure, but I'm not certain if they will have any cap room to sign big FA's after that (if they do, then my post here is completely moot.) Baron and Chris have long contracts, but are reasonably fair ones. They're not going to be able to go out and sign 2 guys like that as FA's anyway, and adding those 2 guys to their existing roster (minus Jason Kidd) is a better team IMO than before that trade.

Of course I'm not familiar enough with all of the particulars of the Dallas team, but I'm surprised Cuban would turn down that trade considering his willingness in the past to take on contracts if he felt it would really help the team. (and I don't even want this trade for the Clippers, you're giving away Kaman to dump Baron's contract- horrible move for the fans.)

This is a bit off topic, but this is just too funny. This was posted over at the general board, and I thought I'd post it here for Clipper fans who don't go there that often. It's just showing Corey's great footwork.

Haha, that's pretty good. Typical Maggette moves. Sad what it says about the officials though. :nonono:

^ Have you guys noticed how much Maggs has been dunking this season? It's like he found the trampoline again. In LA, all he did were weak dunks, now he's jamming on people. What the hell? Who is this guy?

Trade should have been for Crawford/Turiaf/Williams. GS can keep Magz.

if warriors are adding turiaf clippers would need to add camby and a unprotected 1st rnd pick because of baron's negative value and is a horrible unmotivated chucker

^ You guys would have to settle for Kaveman instead of Mr. expiring contract.
