Whom Would YOU Hire?
Get a new coach? Get a new GM? If you owned the team, whom would you hire?

Anybody. That is how badly I want Dunleavy gone.

Hey Flash, thanks for the "Whom."
I love to see the language treated with respect. Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Dunleavy at GM since Sterling doesn't mind him, and he's done a pretty decent job bringing in talent. Silas is a name I haven't heard in a while. Perhaps him or Eddie Jordan? He seems to have done a good job in Washington, but injuries the past couple seasons kinda screwed him out of a job, and of course Sammy.

Re: Whom Would YOU Hire?
I love the idea of Eddie Jordan as coach. There are a lot of similarities between the Clippers roster and the Washington roster he took to the playoffs three seasons in a row. He also knows how to work with high profile point guards. I still think Dunleavy can be a successful coach for LAC once and if the roster settles in but I'd rather let him focus on his GM duties full time.

Re: Whom Would YOU Hire?
I would go for Eddie Jordan for the Princeton style offense scheme that would fit in with the current roster. However it's that same style of play that puts the defense to the curb all day. Even if the style could get the Clips in the playoffs, it doesn't put them past the first round, second if their lucky.
I can't say which coach I could hire at this point. So I will describe the style thew coach should implement to the team instead.
This roster has the capabilities to being a good moderate run and gun team. The passing game should be emphasis along with knowing who your shooters and scorers are in the scheme. Defensively, the team needs to be able to play solid man to man to zone defense when needed. Also, crashin the boards is a must. No sacrifices on the defensive end and don't be the type of coach that will overplay his players for 35 to 40 minutes a game. It's a team effort so use a 10 man roster to get things balance.

Re: Whom Would YOU Hire?
I would like to see just about anybody really. I appreciate some of the things that Dunleavy has done for the team while here, so I would hope to keep him as GM. If it had to be a package deal for him to be GM, then we'd just have to find a new GM.
I'd welcome any of Jordan, Silas and Saunders. Another name I would throw into the hat would be Mike Smith.

If we fire Dunleavy as coach, but keep him as GM, can you imagine the pressure he'll put on the new coach? Dude has a huge ego. If he decides to step down as coach, I wouldn't hire anyone. I would promote Kim Hughes to head coach. Put Sammy and Mobley on the coaching staff as well.

Mark Jackson. He's interviewed for other jobs and will end up getting a job sooner or later. He's been around the league long enough to know the ins and outs of the league.
Hiring a first time coach in Jackson would also be cheaper than hiring a veteran coach most likely. This could help offset firing Dunleavy or keeping Dunleavy in the GM roll.
Sterling is supposedly through with Dunleavy, but doesn't want to fire him since he's still owed about 11 million in the next two years.

Re: Whom Would YOU Hire?
Earlier in the season, I thought that Eddie Jordan was the best hire for you guys.
I've come around to thinking that Patrick Ewing is your man. He has a good relationship with Camby, and he can help develop DJ. He has shown the capacity to work with bigs, and he knows the intricacies of a high-low offense that features the Center (or PF) with the SG -- from his times in NY under Riley then JVG.
I think Zach and EJ should be the focus of the offense and still think you have to do your best to dump Baron -- even if it means it is a straight salary dump. Move Kaman and Thornton for flexibility. Keep your bench guys. If you are able to make the Baron trade before or during the draft, go for the best PG in the draft, or a tough SF who would want to play defense.

I'm willing to bet if Mark Jackson were to become a NBA coach. He'll have his team in a half court style like he used to play when he was with the Pacers, Raptors, and Jazz.

I would like either Mark Jackson or Eddie Jordan as the future coach. Kim Hughes is someone who I specfically would not want, since if Dunleavy is left as GM he could have too much influence on him.

Re: Whom Would YOU Hire?
I'd like to throw Flip Saunders' name in the mix. I think he's still a very capable coach that was unjustly fired with expectations that were too high. From what I've seen, he has the offensive part of the game figured out, and seeing as how our players are more offensive mind than defensive minded (save for Camby), I think he would be a HUGE improvement over Dumbleavy.
I would've suggested Jeff Van Gundy, but I just don't think we have the roster that he would be able to fully utilize.

JVG is locked into broadcasting for a while --- a commitment to his family, and a great treat to all of us who get to hear him from time to time. He is a very funny man (and enjoys nothing more than making jokes about himself.)
I agree that Flip Saunders shouldn't have been fired, but don't see him working out with this team.
Eddie Jordan seems a sound bet.
I don't suppose Tom Thibodeau is available? Now there is the complete master of D.
