As was posted on the main board
http://www.tmz.com/2009/04/06/clipper-c ... ing-drunk/This is really bad news. I was hoping ZBO had changed his act a bit. WHy not have a full-time driver?

I don't know if he was pissed about the loss or just pissed about the season. This isn't a good sign and we haven't had any character issue problems for the last few season to my knowledge.

He'll probably have to do some considerable jail time or does it matter that it (his first offense) was out of state? I'm sure the NBA will suspend him as well. Really, I can understand making a mistake once, but after that it is ridiculous not to hire a driver. Terrible decision

If what has happened is true.

In the ESPN report there was no mention of the 1st DUI. Maybe I'm mistaken. Perhaps this is his first offense

Well, at least no DUIs the last few seasons because he could taxi it everywhere in NY.

Ugh. DUI is the most miserably irresponsible offense to be booked for. Strictly a case of bonehead decision-making. Yall mentioned hiring a driver, and I wonder...I'm no expert or anything, but aren't you supposed to be shuttled around in a Rolls, not drive it yourself? Faux pas number one right there.
At this point of the season though, Zachary was probably just looking for some time off.

First one was in 2003 and it was weed that was under the influence of.

that's right. perhaps it is far back enough that it won't affect his punishment in the court of law

Well Zach is suspended two more games, this really lessens our chances of winning. More time for DeAndre I guess

Yesterday, I was just talking with my uncle (a Laker fan) about athletes and doing stupid things like this and how it should effect their contracts , and then this happens

Firstly, I'm glad that he nor anyone else was harmed. Secondly, these guys need to use better judgment. I don't know how much he was drinking, or how far he was over the limit, but he did fail a field test. If you have been drinking at all, it's better to be safe than sorry and to have a designated driver (even if you are under the limit).
He definitely has the resources to have someone drive him home. They said he was driving from his condo in Marina del Rey to his home in Marina del Rey in a caravan with his friends family. Unless they were all drinking, he should have had one of them drive him.
I'm very disappointed in him.

^If that's the case someone really should have drove him. I'm disappointed myself

The Clipps should have no place for anything like this. Ask Donte Stallworth what has happened to him in the last few weeks.
If Zach has not proven that he could change his boneheaded ways, get him off the team. It's a harsh reality that needs to be done if true.

With his contract, that will be easier said than done in this economy. He is probably easier to move than Baron Davis, but that isn't saying much.

He doesn't need to be moved because of a DUI. We don't know specifics like his BAC or how fast he was driving or anything. Not that I'm excusing his actions, but professional athletes have done much worse-- Donte Stallworth for example, who CD mentioned earlier. While drunk driving never leads to anything positive, there's no reason to call for his head or get him booted from the team. It was boneheaded decision by a bona fide bonehead, but justice (to the extent that professional athletes get) will be served.

I'm not saying that since this is his first incident with the Clipps that he should be booted...
What I'm trying to say is that this isn't the first, second, nor third time he's been caught doing something illegal. If he's not ready to change by now, why would we want him.
I know it may be hard to trade him, but at least put him out on the market...
