Serious question

Why are you guys Clipper fans? I have never understood why the Clippers have any fans when the Lakers are in the same town. If the team were based on a town without another NBA franchise, like San Diego, it would be totally understandable.
But if you guys are from LA, why would you cheer for a franchise that has only had 2 winning seasons in the last 30 years? Are you primarily Laker fans, but cheer for the Clippers on the side?
I'm not trying to be rude, I really want to know.
