Let's put this all together...interest in players and needs.

1. Chicago is moving TT and possibily Hinrich. They want and need a scoring low post precense.

2. Dallas is interested in Baron Davis, and possibly others.

3. We need to move big contracts, bad fits and big men.

Can i swing this one out there? ($/years)

1. Give Dallas what they want:
Dallas recieves: Baron Davis ( 41.8/4)
Clippers recieve: Caroll (18.8/4) & Stackhouse (26.0/1)

We could just leave Stackhouse at home, or buy him out of that last year. Caroll has 4 years left but at a much lower price than Baron Davis. He's also quite young, works hard and is a great shooter. He won't cause any trouble.

2. Give Chicago a low post presence:
Chicago gets: Al Thornton (6.6/2) & Zach Randolph (54.5/2)
Clippers recieve: Kirk Hinrich (37.2/3) & John Salmons (22.6/2)

We get our new starting pg, who ended up on a dead trail in Chicago and get a chance to get rid of Randolph. Hinrich is also quite big and can defend taller sg's very well, which would be perfect next to Eric Gordon. The other way around: we could run Salomns at SG when Gordon plays spot minutes at PG. We'd lose Thornton but he's not special.

3. Possibility if Charlotte wants to improve their frontcourt while adressing their backcourt logjam:
Charlotte gets: Chris Kaman (35.3/3)
Clippers get: Nazr Mohammed (22.5/2) & D.J. Augustin (8.2/3)

This one is a bit out of thin air, but I know Brown likes a player like Kaman, he wants to get help for Okafor at C so Emeka can slide to PF. When youre playing Crash at PF you know youre desperate. We'd get back a great young talent, who might have trouble playing alongside EG, due to the lack of size. Mohammed is a albatros contract for what he actually does, but he expires in two and is much more reasonable and better to have around than Zach.

Extra: Since we can use Minny's top 10 protected pick this year, and they ended up @ 18 with their 2nd first round pick, we might try to swing that pick along with a player in a deal to land a pick around the 10th: right where Charlotte would be. With that pick we could perfectly pick Earl Clark: a perfect player for this team...If we take Minny's pick and draft a player, how about getting Oatty Mills or Jeff Teague?

Line up:

Hinrich/Taylor
Gordon/Augustin
Salmons/Caroll/(Clark?)
Griffin/Novak
Camby/Jordan/Mohammed

Thoughts? Also on the individual trades...

Charlotte wouldn't trade DJ for Kaman and Clipps say no to trade one...

Trade two I'd do in a heartbeat, but I don't know if Chicago would.

Augustin is no SG. He's like 5'11
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Still, if you watched Augustin play with the Cats you wouldve seen him play SG alongside Felton who's a fivefooter too.

Why wouldnt dump the Clippers Davis contract?

I think Chicago is happy with Salmons, so I don't see him being traded even if we throw Thornton there. Even then, Randolph for Hinrich.. we would need to be lucky. I think they're more interested in Kaman or Camby.

Mavs, I have a feeling we're going to keep Baron for now. If things don't go well, we'll see at the trade deadline. Otherwise, it looks good.. it's just the matter if the Mavs are really that interested. I mean, they did decline our trades for Kidd last season.

Some other teams you might be able to throw in is NJ and the Bucks. NJ is looking to move Yi.. not "shopping him around" though. Haha. I also like to mention NJ because if we do trade with them, I'm sure they're willing to part with Bobby Simmons... former Clipper. Not the same since injury, but maybe Dunleavy can revive his career. The Bucks, Charlie V is planning to leave so they may want one of our big men. There's also the Warriors but thats if you want Maggette back, which I'm open to, but Maggette had some problems with Dunleavy before soo...

Can we just fire Dunleavy?

The Wolves' pick is eh.. with all the scouts saying this is one of the worst drafts, not sure why we would take it or how we would trade it this year.

I don't think 2 would happen. 1, maybe, but Dallas might intrigue other teams with that expiring and we also have to see what happens with Kidd even though he expressed that he's open to leaving Dallas, and 3.. I don't like it.

The Minny pick is top 10 protected through 2011, if Minnesota ends up in the top 10 they keep the pick, there are no options for the Clippers to take the pick early or get another Minnesota 1st round pick acquired through trade in its place. It would be given unrestricted to the Clippers in 2012 if not exercised in the next two drafts. The Minny pick has a lot more value than the #18 pick in this draft anyway.

Read the article, not just the title. That wasn't even the original title as that was realgm's wiretap title. That article does not even say we are interested in Davis.

Here is what Donnie said...
We have to be open to anything — anything! — that would improve our team

Here is what the author said
The Mavericks will be one of 29 teams in contact with the Clippers about everything from their bevy of big men to the No. 1 pick and Davis, who is under contract for four more seasons at more than $60 million.
One of their bigmen (does not imply Davis) "to" Griffin/Davis

The Mavericks first must address the Jason Kidd issue. If they re-sign him, Davis would become a nonfactor, unless a third team were involved.

But a player like Camby or Kaman, who played with Dirk Nowitzki on the German national team in last year’s Olympics, would make a lot of sense for the Mavericks

Once again, the article focuses on big men being Dallas' interest and even suggests a 3rd team for Davis

There will be no shortage of competition, however, particularly from Oklahoma City, which has the third pick in the draft. The Thunder is expected to make a play for Griffin, using the third pick and one of their young core players (Jeff Green or Russell Westbrook) as bait for the top overall pick, which would allow them to keep Griffin in his hometown.
Illuding to the fact that Griffin is one of the targets.

Dallas has no real interest in Davis, but if a package is sweet enough, we may take his contract to negate any value the others have.
