Feasible Randolph Trades

Post#1 » by connseanery » Mon May 25, 2009 3:13 pm

Randolph has an atrocious contract but so do many other NBA players. I think a few of these deals may be workable.

Randolph for:

Vladimir Radmanovic & Nazr Mohammed, Bobcats - 13 million combined 10/11 last year in their contracts

Ben Wallace, Cleveland - 14 million 09/10 is last year in his contract. The Cavs could use an additonal post scorer off the bench

Mike Dunleavy Jr & Jamal Tinsley, Indiana - 18 million combined 10/11 last years of their contracts. Jr with a bum knee could be re-united with his pop

Darko Milicic & Marko Jaric, Grizzlies - 15 million combined, 09/10 last year for Milicic and 10/11 last year for Jaric.

I mentioned the ZBO for Wallace a couple days ago. I really like it for both teams since Wallace barely gets any time anyways.

- I like the ZBO for Marko and Darko scenario. Memphis could really use Zach since they need a low post presence.

I could see all of these as realstic, although I think the Cleveland one is a severe stretch and extremely unlikey, I stress extremely. Again, the other ones I could see.

^Why is Cleveland unrealistic?

They need to dump Wally, Ben and possibly Big Z.

Randolph's contract only goes into 2011, which is really low risk, esp. if LeBron signs the extension.

Don't you see how much they need scoring and rebounding in this Orlando series? In the second half when the pace slows the only way they score is off LeBron's involvement. With ZBo, you put him on the block or right wing, and he will produce.

Trust if Cleveland loses in 6, the franchise will be in panic, as other teams continue to clear 2010 cap space. They are not going to sit still on Wally, Ben and other large contracts.

I don't want to trade Zach. He was a huge surpise for us last year. Sure he's had some problems, but he is a great scorer from anywhere on the court. I don't think he's a team leader, but that means we need to surround him with someone who is. Hello Baron?

With his image and his contract, we wouldn't get much for him. Remember we only gave up TT and Mobley to bring him here.

I think our best bet is to keep him here and see if we can win with him. And if not, trade him later when he's a huge expiring.

I like Randolph for Wallace and Randolph for Darko & Marko, maybe do a 3-team deal?

I agree completely. He's not a detriment to the team on the floor, and his trade value would improve next year.

I don't really see the team moving ZBo to clear cap space to sign someone else, it will purely be to save money. So that being the case, keep ZBo for 1 more year. Griffin will be on a rookie contract, and we don't have any immiment FA's to sign or anything.

I think by next year, some salaries will have to be moved as some of our young guys will eventually have bigger contracts coming up. But our best player only just played his first season anyway...

I don't think Cleveland is such a stretch, as ZBo could help them. The bottom line is that Zack got 21 and 9 for us in only 35 MPG. But that really depends on their salary structure and if ZBo's salary could fit in with their plans. I don't think they need too much room for LeBron since they can go over the limit to re-sign their guy, plus they have to field a good team around LeBron to keep him. I would consider trading ZBo for Wallace since Wallace is a center (though he seems totally gassed at this point in his career) and has a better contract. For us it would literally be a salary dump, but at least it's for a center.

I'm not sure of these options mainly because we had Marko before and were glad to get rid of him in the trade for Cassell. And Radmonovich burned us for the Lakers (who I hate) which ended in us bringing in Tim Thomas. Not ready to go back to move forward. The Cavs deal I'd take quickly, but highly doubt they would.

If I had to guess a destination right now for either Zach or Baron, Cleveland would be the place. That is if they lose the Orlando series.

Do you guys think we should add any incentive to CLE in a Z-Bo for Wallace deal? I don't think any future 2nd's would mean much, but the future MIN first might do the job. That would make it:

Randolph/future MIN first for Wallace

I wouldn't give the pick to get rid of Zach only one year early. But yeah, the more I keep watching this game the more and more I can see the Cavs taking one or two of Zach/Baron/Kaman.

i think its the other way round!
cleveland needs to throw in atleast a sec round pick, since they're winning the trade talent wise... easily.

dun senior is still high on zachs plugnplay 20&10s. i can't see how the clips send picks just to dump him... whats the worst case scenario? zach gets moved to the bench and may cause locker room problems? i don't even think that would happen, since he is not the same player he was in ny under isiah thomas... and his production off the bench would be deadly, expensive... but deadly!
formidable.

What locker room issues were there with Zach in NY? Keeping players like Baron, Ricky and Zach around guarantees lottery success. If you don't see it now, you'll see it soon. Those 20 & 10s miraculously haven't led to much team success in Zach career. Good luck.

Yeah, Z Bo has been on a lot of losing teams, but I don't think I'd include Baron Davis is this statement. I think he can contribute strongly on a winning team

well you're right that his teams didn't really succeed, but he definetly made a difference this year. without him in the lineup the clips weren't able to compete.
locker room problems may be the wrong term... what i meant to say was, that him coming off the bench, reduced role and minutes... may turn him in his knicks under thomas version, where he played unfocused and not motivated just going nuts.

if it wasn't for his contract and him seeming to drive exclusivly influenced, teams would line up right and left to sign that guy. you sound like he would accomplish s**t on court...

I agree. Lots of teams would take him if he wasn't a cap killer. But....he is. Good luck.
