Clippers Announce New Radio Home

Post#1 » by mkwest » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:36 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that the team has entered into an exclusive multi-year radio broadcast rights agreement with KFWB 980 AM. The broadcast agreement will cover all preseason, regular season and postseason games. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Since the 1950’s, KFWB has been a leader in the Los Angeles media marketplace, so we’re honored to be part of their long tradition,” stated Los Angeles Clippers’ President Andy Roeser. “Also, this long term relationship represents a tremendous development for our fans: no conflicts, a strong signal, with a strong adjacent programming schedule and supportive partners.”

Play-by-play duties will be handled by broadcaster Brian Sieman, who enters his third season as the radio voice for the Clippers.

"We are very proud to be partnering with a first class organization like the Clippers, and we look forward to adding the team to KFWB's new and improved lineup of programming," said Ed Krampf, Senior Vice President and Market Manager of CBS RADIO Los Angeles. "KFWB is committed to serving the interests of Southern Californians, and the addition of Clippers games will help us further reach that goal."

I was hoping AM 570 KLAC was going to pick them up. I realized though that KLAC is making a play for the Dodgers to sustain the radio station.

It's been awhile since I had to use KFWB (traffic report), but it was a pretty clear station. I'm glad that it's settled, I won't be catching games on the radio often, but it can come in handy every now and then.

I was waiting to hear when we would get a new radio station. I also thought it might be AM 570 but I'm glad we're finally found a new radio home.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
