Post#1 » by mkwest » Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:47 pm

"Clipper" Steve Perrin posted this on Clips Nation not too long ago.

if the Clippers have a chance for John Lucas and he wants to be on the Clipper's Staff; why is he not signed?

Smart guy, great former player, R.E.S.P.E.C.T.E.D by almost anyone w/ a BBall IQ.

Maybe John Lucas scares Dunleavy too much?

Dunleavy made the offer, it is Lucas who has to make up his mind if he wants the position.

Blake, AL, Eric and especially DJ need this man in their lives.

Discussions not as far advanced as they may have appeared on Twitter

Here is real evidence that nothing truly vanishes on Twitter. It appeared as though hoop coach Al Brooks (Coach_Al_Brooks) on Tuesday was apparently channeling his inner Kevin Love and breaking this bit of news on Twitter: "John Lucas has a tough decision to make soon. LA Clippers job offer as top asst. Amazing when you've had it all u realize money is secondary." Tonight, gone. A fleeting tweet. (Did find out, via Brooks, that the much-traveled Othella Harrington had a good practice session this morning) As for Lucas? The Clippers have talked to him but it sounds as though discussions may not be quite as advanced as it appeared on Twitter.

According to Lisa Dillman's Twitter, Lucas is in the Clipper offices at his moment...signing?

Smart move from Dunleavy if he actually reached out to Lucas. Players Love Lucas, i think it is an additional 5 WINS per season (he keeps players mentally happy)!!

That's great news. This organization needs personnel that is respected. Since Grg apparently didn't work out, it's good to see us follow up with a strong addition in Lucas.

Seems like wiretap just picked it up. It would be a great addition. I will not get my hopes up for this season though. :P Last year was a real heart breaker.

Wiretap is saying it. I agree with all of you that this will be a good addition.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I really like that deal a lot. Any word on the assistant head coach from the Denver Nuggets, who had high-praise when he was considering taking our assistant head coaching job? Does anyone know if he took it? With a re-vamped coaching staff, I think we can easily make the playoffs.

I love this- I think it's probably the best news of the offseason (excluding the draft). Best move by Dunleavy ever...and who knows...perhaps he's preparing to take on the GM position full time? Nonetheless, a great move- so excited for this season!

Exactly.
As soon as possible, anyway.
With good coaching, this team could amaze a lot of people out there.

With the same old, same old, the coaching will most likely just suck the life out of the team all over again, which would be heartbreaking to watch, considering the talent level, especially of the younger guys.

John Lucas could be the key element to pulling it all together and firinf the team up for success.

That would be the best case scenario, but I'm just not sure he would do that. One thing that keeps running through my mind is what would happen if this team does actually turn the corner and is looking good 2 years from now. Would Sterling let Dunleavy expire, or would they be working towards an extension? I seriously hope that Dunleavy makes the right choice and finally accepts what he's good at and what he's not so good at,.
