Post#1 » by mike3 » Mon Sep 28, 2009 5:08 am

Who do you guys think will be the starting 5 when everyones healthy?

Im thinking it will be Davis, Gordon, Thornton, Griffin, Kaman.

which should work well, any other suggestions that could be the best starting 5?

Dunleavy hasn't been known to play rookies right out the gate. I'd say:

PG - Davis
SG - Gordon
SF - Thornton
PF - Camby
C - Kaman

This is to start the season. Griffin will get his minutes but won't start until later once Camby goes to the bench and I do believe Rasual Butler will eventually beat out Thornton at the 3 spot as well.

The ads that have been going around have Camby with the other projected starters, but I don't think that's the way it'll play out. Having a couple guys that could start coming off the bench is a nice problem to have. I just hope that Dunleavy's substitutions show improvement this season.

My Expected Starting 5
Davis
Gordon
Thornton
Griffin
Kaman

My Preferred Starting 5
Davis
Gordon
Thornton
Griffin
Camby

yeh id probably prefer Camby to start aswell over Kaman. Id like to see Thornton still start over Butler but im sure both will get similiar minutes.

+1, exactly right.

Here's my question, if Dun wants to go more up-tempo, it makes more sense to start Camby, right?

I don't really have a preference on our starting lineup, just have it give us results and good starts.

I think Camby will start off starting over Kaman. Kaman was injured most of last season and will need some time to re-apply himself as a starting center.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

I think this should a productive starting 5

Baron Davis
Eric Gordon
Al thornton
Blake Griffin
Marcus Camby

Why? Because the PG can distribute and the guys around him can finish. They all kinda compliment each other.

Bench 5

Telfair/collins
Rasual Butler/mardy collins
Ricky Davis/Novak
Kaman / smith
kaman/Jordan

Why? Because the PG can distribute and Kaman ,at times commands the double team, which creates shots for Butler,Davis or Novak on the perimeter. I really like the balance and depth of the team.

I don't mind whether Camby or Kaman starts. I do however mind if we see Kaman or Camby playing PF. Camby is too old and Kaman is just simply too big to be fast enough to guard PFs. Plus Craig Smith is a very good backup PF.

Another thing I really hope to see is Rasual Butler starting over AL. He seems like a nice character who gets on well with people, not to mention I see his game fitting in better with starters.

Seriously though if some players come back strong we could have a great bench. What do you think the score would be between the Kings starters and our bench?

Telfair
Ricky Davis
Thornton/Butler
Smith
Kaman/Camby

All 5 guys have started at some point in there career (except Smith has mostly been a backup). I think that team would cause Kings starters problems :D

I think the starting 5 will be:
Davis
Gordon
Thornton
Griffin
Camby
Since Blake is a better low post than perimeter player, starting alongside Camby will give him the low block to himself. Camby plays more of a high post game.

Per wiretap, the starting lineup is going to be:

PG: Baron Davis
SG: Eric Gordon
SF: Al Thornton
PF/C: Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby

I'm not really sure why Dunleavy wants to run with this lineup, but sure...

AHHHHH, that annoys me on so many levels.

1. We can't run with 2 reasonably slow centres on court.
2. Kaman or Camby cannot guard PFs.
3. Griffin will get reduced mins and may have to play some C or SF.
4. There will be very little mins for Craig Smith at PF.
5. Al Thornton starting.

Maybe Dunleavy feels that Griffin will need a few games to get adjusted to the NBA ?
I know one thing for sure though... IF Kaman comes out sucking balls , Dunleavy better put his ass on the bench ASAP!.

I don't really like that lineup. Not because Blake isn't starting, but because it now causes some problems in the front court rotation. Unless Dunleavy really believes DJ can backup Kaman with no issues, that now leaves Craig Smith with no playing time. Unless we play an undersized rotation where Smith or Blake play some time at C.

Dumbleavy's just starting training camp with this lineup. By the first or second pre-season game, Blake will become the starting PF, mark my words. He's an idiot, but not THAT idiotic.
