TV schedule for two Clippers preseason games

Post#1 » by jgRockefeller » Fri Oct 2, 2009 7:31 pm

So excited for this season that I've been trying to figure out when the first Clippers television broadcast airs. I remembered when they announced the new TV deal with Prime Ticket, they mentioned that there would be at least a couple of preseason games on TV. I've been checking the Clippers Schedule off and on with no luck, until today! The schedule on the Clippers website now shows that two preseason games are indeed on Prime Ticket:

Mon 12 October 7:30 PM vs Golden State
Fri 23 October 23 7:30PM vs New Orleans

I'm new to the boards and enjoy reading all the latest "opinions" on the upcoming season. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up on when they can get there Clippers fix.

OT:
I was all excited cause I noticed DirectTV was airing NBA TV for free, a channel we usually don't get. Unfortunately the first thing that comes on is the (2 hour!) Lakers Real Training Camp special. Torture for a Clippers fan like myself.

Denver seems to get a 1/2 hour spot mixed in with the Lakers special that runs constantly, you'd think with all the Blake Griffin hype they could give the Clippers a 1/2 hour spot too. :D

Also it looks the first game of the season against the Lakers is national TV only (TNT), no Prime Ticket. I always like listening to the Clippers bias, but I enjoy listening to Ernie, Barkley, and the Jet too, so now I don't have to flip back and forth thankfully.

Looking forward to, unlike last season, getting some real outside analysis/attention from TNT. I remember during All-Star weekend, Eric Gordon was brought up but the Jet said he really couldn't comment cause they don't follow the Clippers. Maybe that'll finally change with all the national games we get for once.

And for the record Ralph Lawler and Mike Smith (radio: Brian Sieman) are much easier to listen to IMO than Joel Meyers and Stu Lantz (radio: Spero Dedes). Not because of the people behind the mic, but their personalities and what they actually talk about. When people ask why I like the Clippers and not the Lakers I think it's the same reason. The Lakers have no where to go but down and it's been like that for years.

Anything less than a NBA championship is a failure and the whole season rides on the assumption they'll be in the finals. So all the broadcasters, analysts, announcers talk about is winning, winning, winning and a loss is a much bigger deal than with the Clippers. Immediately the post game turns to what the Lakers did WRONG (vs what the other team did RIGHT) and what they need to "fix" for the next game.

On the other hand, wny win for the Clippers is a blessing and is something to cheer for and talk about. Thus the Clippers broadcast tends to do more banter and behind the scenes talk, because most of the time the game is out of reach and playoffs are out of the picture.

But as much as I like the announcing, I'd much rather be seeing a winning team. This year I'm really hoping that happens.

Nice find! And welcome to the greatest team board on RealGM.

I hope someone streams the game. Sure would be nice to have cable TV again.
