Is J. Lucas being "used" in Training Camp?

Just trying to figure out if the Clipper players have been leaning on Lucas for advice & inspiration. Has Dunleavy used Lucas as a Co-Coach or just one of his ASSistants?
I really think that if Lucas is allowed to "lead" & "coach" the Clips will be successful.
Let us hope that everyone stays healthy & Dunleavy shares w/ Lucas.

Co-coach?

That just sounds funny.
He's an assistant coach. That about sums it up. He doesn't call the shots but he gives Dunleavy advice. It's not Dunleavy/Lucas 50/50. Mike Dunleavy is head coach and he makes the decisions. He gets the glory of wins and the blame for losses. Lucas can't lead if he's not head coach but I'd rather have him around than not at all and that is an understatement.
It sounds like Dunleavy really respects Lucas though, and they are friends, so I'm guessing his input will be that much more impactful.

Lucas has implemented different drills with the players in practice. He's also done a little more one-on-one/hands stuff with them. The main purpose of having Lucas is that he typically has a good rapport with players, and to bring in another voice to help reach them. It's easy to tune out Dunleavy when you're just listening to him during an interview or during the times when he's done color commentary in the playoffs. I don't even want to imagine what it would be like on a daily basis.

I'm hoping that Lucas will take over the reigns next year after Dunleavy figures out that he is a much better GM than a coach .
